Guest guest
having a kid with cf is so hard and with down syndome i am sure it is even harder. my sons cf has changed me and my health. i get migraines. wich i am guessing is what you are going through. the stress of being a care giver is hard on our bodies. sometimes i feel as though i am going to fall apart. try to find something over the counter you can take until after the first of the year when you can have the mri. please keep us posted. you will be in my toughts as i know what you are feeling. evelyn Borkowski <julieborkowski@...> wrote: Hi I joined this group because I take care of my daughter with down sydrome and cystic fibrosis. I am not sure I would classify them as migraines but I usually wake up with them and they can be pretty debilitating. I went to my doctor and he wanted me to get an MRI and gave me vicoden for 5 days. The vicoden helped get rid of them, but when I went to schedule the MRI, I found out that I have not met my deductable for the year so I told the doctor I would have the MRI after the first of the year, because money is tight and Christmas is going to be lean for my kids this year. Anyway here is my question, my headaches have now come back and I called the doc to see if he would give me a refil on the vicoden to get me through the first of the year. Well in a not so polite way, he said no and he could not take the liability of giving me more pain medication... So what do I do now? I would really like to get through the holidays with as little stress as possible but headaches are preventing that. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Have you looked into some kind of respite program? Your local Board On Mental Retardation may know of such a program. You can have a respite care giver come, take care of your child for something like 2-4 hrs. During that time, you can go take care of the things that you need to do. Maybe go to a movie, get your hair done, dr's appointments ....whatever you can think of. Respite caregivers are very throughly screened. But I don't think I have to suggest, that you do some checking as well. Guest guest
hi , I know how you must feel. I hate to say this right off the bat because I don't know YOU all that well so don't take this wrong. You need a new doc. You don't need one who won't listen to you. Remember you pay him! at least your insurance does. He works for you. Same with Phoebe's docs. I suspect these headaches are stress but I have very bad sinuses and have had 5 surgeries on them. I know lots of my headaches are sinus related. I have one now. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I see a pain management doc who doesn't make me feel needing meds is a problem. I don't have migraines but I have fibromyalgia and I am on strong pain meds at all times.these are maintenance meds. lots of people dont understand this but i do admit I am dependant on my meds. Not only my pain meds but lots of others. I just see taking my Avinza (morphine) as just another pill. one I have to be careful not to run out of. love always, all ways love, all ways Jesus! your sis, age 46 w/fibro asthma allergies etc, bipolar depression anxiety etc.mom of Nick age 24 wonderful adorable young man & pharm techAng age 22 college student doing great but happens to be blessed with this crazy thing called cfwife of , 48, trying to help fix us.(we aren't broken)and Lucy age 4 the dog
Guest guest
,As someone who both has a chronic illness and is the care-taker of someone with a chronic illness (my DH), I have an idea of what you're going through. Do you know where you can get Essential Oils, both single oils and blends? I have recently started using M-Grain and Pan-Away for my headaches. My headaches are " not true migraines " (my GP's words), so the M-Grain(sp?) doesn't always work, which is why I also use the Pan-Away. I use Young Living (brand) Essential Oils and blends. Guest guest
I work in a FAMILY DOLLAR STORE in Norton, Ohio. I think we sell some essential oils. They are with the rest of the perfumes. Also drugstores carry oils (like you use for making candy), ask about them in the pharmacy. They are about $1.00 a bottle. Guest guest
i'm currently in the navy and ever since my diagnoses I have been on limited duty. I have talked to my doc about LDN but he seemed to shrug it off. I feel that my own health is not in my hands. Is there anything I can do to get my doc to approve me taking LDN instead of the run of the mill shots(I'm currently taking rebif but I hate it). I'd really like yalls help or someone more experience in dealing with an officer(O-4) when I'm just an E-4...thank yall.
