Guest guest
Tom, My knees burn quite often, but they also get hot to the touch and red. It's inflammation of some type and was my first symptom of lyme. I ice my knees sometimes several times a day. Maybe a cold pack can give you some relief? I also try to not get angry with my PCP for not sending me on to the rheumotologist until a year and a half of constantly complaining about my knees and describing it. He only said, " Hmm, I've never heard of that before " and after a year and a half of my complaining (with added symptoms accumulating) he also gave me meds 'cuz it must be in my head. Finally after 30 days of that (that was my ultimatum - I'd only do it for 30 days) he sent me to a rheumotolgist who immediately suspected lyme. The redness, swelling and hotness I have are *classic* signs of joint infection that my doctor should have recognized and sent me on to a rheumatologist. (sigh) Sorry I rambled.... Hope cold pack helps. Beth I also need to let go of the anger I have for being misdiagnosed repeatedly over the past 3+ years - especially one of my ex-doctors who tried to put me on tranquilizers because he said " I was under stress - not sick with anything physical " . I plan to contact the medical group - including my current PCP - and let them know that they better start listening to their patients, and that a Lyme diagnosis is more than just a blood test - it's a clinical diagnosis. One more thing - I've had a weird symptom off-and-on for the past few years. I don't know if it's Lyme related, but I thought I'd bring it up and see if anyone else has this or knows anything about it. I've had it for the past 2 days - that's why I remembered it. For the past few years, maybe 4 or 5 times per year, I've had an intense hot pain in my groin area, front & back thighs, and buttocks. Could the burning pain be a result of the antibiotics stirring up the Lyme bacteria?

" I've always thought burning and or tingling, were nerve related......the buttocks is loaded with nerves running down from the lumbar back, down into the thighs.......could be nerve involvement from the lower spine. Just a guess, Connieknwnj

" > I had burning/ripping and hot pain in upper thighs and groin area... there are also GLANDS and LYMPH tissue / glands/nodes throughout that area and my take on it at the time since i was pretty sick was that my lymph system was overworked and felt like it was on fire. BUT this is something u should tell your doc as it could be something else.... hot skin etc could be a sign of infection underneath, such as in the veins /tissues below the skin.... not something to guess on! good luck, celia in vt
