sleeping problems.....started antibiotics...ithching..please read

hello everyone...my husband went to a lyme specilist yesterday and

he started him on 2 antibiotics so we can get a proper lyme dx from

Igenex....problems last night were awful...my husband was up all

night as usual as he hasnt been sleeping due to night itching and

night sweats....last night the itching and restlestness was

sssooooooooooooo awfull i though he was going to go crazy...he

scratched himself bloody and scared me to death....did anyone

experience this when first starting anitbiots...is it starting to

kill the lyme and this is causing the itching or was he having an

illergic reaction to the anitibiots? can i do anything for the

restlessness and itching....i wrapped him in hot towels and used a

infra red heat massagers on his legs arms and back but he was in so

much discomfort nothing helped...today is his 39th birthday and what

a way to spend it.....any info is helpfull....thanks...Laurie

laurie, how awful! It is only my guess, but I would suspect an allergic

reaction, you better call the doc & tell him if you haven't already. I never

had itching that bad, but I did have allergic reaction to Rocephin + Plaquenil,

which cause huge hives. If he can take it, an antihistamine might help, like

Benadryl or I can only take Allegra, but ONLY after you have checked with your

doc. Benadry can make some people restless even though it is supposed to do the

opposite. Good Luck, I hope next year is a much better birthday for him & all of

one work for you bendryl. I don't sleep at all on the nights of rocephin shots.

I don;t itch everynight but found that the bendryl and sometimes epsom salts and

peroxide baths help. good luck
