Guest guest
Those of you with spouses that are also Lyme positive... did you both start treatment at the same time and did you each follow the same protocol? My husband hasn't started his treatment yet and the doctor (who is encouraging him to start ASAP - but we haven't gone through PCP doctor yet) is afraid that he can get abx resistant strains from me and it would hamper his treatment later. We didn't know he was positive until I'd had about 7 months of treatment. My LLMD suspects that he was the vector for my case of Lyme (his tick/outdoor history and preponderance of bacteria in Igenex test). Of course the LLMD is not on our insurance and is an hour away. He's willing to work with the general doctor here in town, but who knows if the general doctor can swallow his pride and work with this LLMD. I really like our general doctor but he was basically ignorant concerning Lyme and for a year and a half had me just on diuretics and steroids - every day! He FINALLY sent me to a rhumetologist who immediately suspected Lyme. Anyway, enough rambling! I'm curious to know what couples are doing to treat/manage this illness. Connie, This may sound like a dumb question, but.... how do you know that you no longer have Lyme? Because the symptoms are gone or because of a blood test? Re: [ ] wasLLMD Wise enough to put Doxie - now IV Rocephin I no longer have lyme. I do suffer a sleep disorder as the result of lyme. I was on many different oral abx, injections, and then ending with IV Rocephin. My greatest fear is being reinfected. This summer I found out I was extremely low in serotonin.......since bringing up those levels my sleep has improved greatly. I do think the Lyme caused this imbalance. IV Rocephin did it for me........but I think what it did was kill off the remain strain of bacteria.......In my opinion I think we have several strains of the bacteria and it takes several different abxs to kill them all off. I also believe that the drugs and the lyme cause all sorts of imbalances in your body......and you need to restore those imbalances to feel 100% again.
