Guest guest
Yes, all three of my lyme tests were also negative. (That seems to be the norm in about 50% of the people I hear from). But I have the classical symptoms of lyme as well and feel worse if I stop the anti-microbials. I know no one, not even the doctors who receive positive tests can say of absolute certainty that our conditions are directly related to lyme, or any particular microbe. But as you said, the proof is in the pudding. I started out on the abx. But I find I get just as good results taking anti-microbial herbs. Besides, they are cheaper and don't require a doctor's visit. Craig mrpotto2002 <csalfi@...> wrote: Well, I am now a firm believer that I have lyme. Proof is in the pudding. I had been a wee bit skeptical that I had lyme since my blood tests repeatedly came up negative. About 3.5 weeks ago my LLMD had me discontinue my abx regiment because of high bun and creatinine blood tests. Upon retest my creatinine moved back in range but my bun was still elevated (I got retested again on Friday). Over the last week my symptoms have worsened. The head and facial tingling has intensified and over the past few days I've experienced some panicky symptoms (i.e. shallow breathing, conscious of my breathing and the feeling that I'm going to stop breathing). I have also had increased insomnia and have had a great deal of difficulty falling asleep. So...I took matters into my own ahnds and began to take some leftover Ceftin ---500 mgs 2x per day. I felt like I couldn't wait any longer to go back on abx since it will into next week before my doc can assess my situation. I don't think I'll tell my LLMD because I'm sure he'd have a problem with what I did. Anyway...just venting a bit. I hope to hear some thoughts on this. Guest guest
Also, Babesia affects breathing, heavy chest, shallow breaths, etc. My doctor told me that I had the worse case of Babesia he has seen in 10 yrs. mrpotto2002 <csalfi@...> wrote: Well, I am now a firm believer that I have lyme. Guest guest
HI chris, If I had a nickel for each negative test I've had, I would be on my way to being rich!! But, I and my doctor, have no doubt that I have Lyme. I've had it for 18 years and have been treated for it for the last 16 years. It's been up and down because I have chronic lyme, lucky me! I put my faith in God and he has pulled me through. Good luck to you! > Well, I am now a firm believer that I have lyme. Proof is in the > pudding. Guest guest
Theresa, what abx does your llmd have you on for your babesia? Are they working? Thanks for the reply. Guest guest
Craig, how long have you been on abx/natural abx? What are your symptoms and I assume the drugs help. Guest guest
The classic treatment for Babesia is quinine which is also used for malaria. There is a little bit of information about Babesiosis in the Merck Manual. It is listed directly underneath malaria. I prefer the Merck Manual for medical professionals over the one for the general public because it gives more information. I do not know of any alternative meds for this condition. There is a great book available from the " The Pharmacist Letter " about herbs and supplements that gives uses for them and also any interactions with prescription medications. I haven't been able to purchase it because I'm disabled due to fibromyalgia and don't have the money to invest in it. If I could just tuck $20-25 dollars a month away for it I could get it. Hope this helps a little. > > Well, I am now a firm believer that I have lyme. Proof is in the > > pudding. Guest guest
I was on zithromax and mepron for the babesia, one time for 10 mo. and another time for 4mo. Now, I am taking the herbal pill for babesia that I saw mentioned on another lyme group, it is arteminin or phytoartemisinin. You are suppose to work up to 6 per day. Guest guest
Chris I did 10mo. of mepron/zithromax a couple of yrs back. and another time 5mo. of the combo. I still have night sweat on and off so I started the herbal phytoartemisinin for the babesia. I will try this for now, I am sick of the meds and the side effects.
