Guest guest
, I initially had to get used to the topamax as well. It does cause you to be dizzy. I am about to up another 25mg a day to see if that will help. I am at my wits end now. I ended up taking a vicodin before bed and all night felt a low grade headache. This is not a single day anymore that I do not have a headache. It is normal to have a lowgrade almost any give time of the day now. I was on depakote for a short time as well. I was more worried of the side effects of it and it really wasn't the miracle cure so I stopped it as well. It is going to be a challenge to find someone to test me for Lyme. Lucky for me, I am very persistant and don't give up when I believe in something. My pcp is going to think I lost my mind if I ask her to test me for it. Of course I never told her about the tick. I totally forgot about it until yesterday when my sister mentioned it. With our insurance I dont need a referal to go to a specialist so I might bypass my pcp all together. I am beginning to think she thinks I am a druggie with all the meds i'm on!! I had to ask her for another vicodin script a week ago, she does have to give me credit, the last one took me 3 1/2 months to go thru 30 pills. Did either of your sons have any other symptoms other than the headaches and seizures? I am just wondering if I wouldn't have any other symptoms if I had it? Barb > Definitely you should be tested. Guest guest
, I agree, there are great people on here! Thanks for the info on how long it can stay dormant, all the info I could find last night said 30 days. Dealing with a serious health issue with my husband taught me not to always believe statistics that are on the web! You need to hear it from those who have " been there done that " . I also have mild fatigue, just no energy to do much of anything. With 4 young boys it is tough being that way. I feel guilty. What are your recommendations on finding a LLMD? Since I am in Florida, I think it is going to be tough finding one here. Barb > > > > > > Hi, I just joined and had a few questions that I was hoping you > all > > could help me answer. Guest guest
, Thanks for the info. Reading more on symptoms, I have noticed a few other symptoms I have, heart palatations, nausea for the past 3 weeks or so - similiar to morning sickness YUCK!, moderate fatigue, foggy head - my kids will talk to me and sometimes it is like they are speaking in a foregin language, I just can't concentrate on what they are saying, it happens with others, but is the worst with the kids, and a sore thumb joint for the past 2-3 three months. I thought it was just jammed or something but it isn't getting any better. Everything else is moderate compared to the headaches. It is amazing and sad to hear the run around that those struck with lyme go through with the dr's! Thanks for sharing your experience, I am sorry to hear that you are going thru this. Guest guest
Barb, The best advice for a GREAT Lyme doctor came from this board. I'm in NY but see an LLMD in NJ because of the great recommendations I got for her. Does anyone know of the best LLMD in Barb's area? Barb, maybe you can post a little more about where you are located and what's close to you (in terms of major city's). Also, can anyone post other Internet resources Barb can use to locate the best LLMD in her area? Also, a great place to get more information is in the Messages section of this group. Guest guest
Makes me feel better to know I am not the only one who can't remember! For the life of me, i am unable to rememember my own cell phone number this week! I haven't noticed a connection with my cycle, I haven't paid much attention, probably due to the fact that that is all messed up for the past 8 months as well. My pcp is currently checking me for early menapause. Guest guest
I am just outside of Tampa, but will travel if I have too. I would of course prefer not to travel if I didn't have too. I am about 1 1/2 hr to the west of Orlando, 2 hrs or so south of Gainesville. Guest guest
Hi Barb - gosh my heart goes out to you. I would definitely bypass your pcp and go straight to a LYME LITERATE MD. This is crucial. Don't take no for an anwer...I cannot overemphasize this point. We had doctors get hostile with us for even mentioning Lyme in their presence. Don't let anyone discourage you and don't stop until you find someone who knows lyme. You asked about my children's other symptoms. My son, who is 9, started with severe headaches, disorientation, sudden ADHD type behavior, emotional outbursts inappropriate to the situation and finally seizures. My daughter, age 11, was actually the most critical case...she had gastrointestinal symptoms and couldn't keep anything down by mouth. She ended up needing parenteral nutrition from May - January (catheters and then feeding tube.) She has had obsessive compulsive tendencies, but when she got sick it became a full-fledged disorder and affected the quality of her life. They started abx treatment Dec. 20th and by Jan. 12th my daughter was eating on her own and my son was headache free. Other symptoms - they would complain that their " hair hurt " and we had vision problems with both kids. I sure hope to hear your success story here soon. I have the newsweek article you mentioned and I'm going to try to PDF it and send it to you tommorow. Best of luck and health, >From: " bbgibbs99 " <bbgibbs@...> >Reply- > >Subject: [ ] Re: <>New member with a question >Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2005 14:34:30 -0000 > > > >, > >I initially had to get used to the topamax as well. Guest guest
, As soon as I find one I will be making an appt. I can't say that I am having much luck. Hopefully with offices open tomorrow I will have better luck and will be able to find my way to a LLMD. Are they listed as LLMD's? Or how are they listed? Or is this just a specialty that some happen to posess and there is no title? I won't let anyone discourage me, what my pcp is doing isn't working. I had a really bad night again last night and this has got to stop! It is getting worse every day now. I am sorry to hear your kids suffered so bad. It is horrible for little kids to go thru this and think this is what life is about. Thank you for sharing their symptoms with me. I am looking forward to receiving the article, thanks for offering to send it! If you have any problems, I have a fax machine if that will help. You can email it to me at bbgibbs@.... If it doesn't work, let me know. Thanks! Barb > > > Definitely you should be tested. I have two kids with Lyme - my > >son had > > > the severe headaches and actually began having seizures.
