Guest guest
> Hi Vicki, > > Not heard of this being a borrelial thing but will ask our medical advisors > today . Thanks Kezzi Had full kidney investigations about 10 years ago. Specialist noted blood in urine, but put it down to " just one of those things " . Took years of costly medical training to reach that conclusion!!! I do worry about me kidneys because I get these flares of pain in this area. Could just be the antibiotics. My grandfather died of nephritis and also had what I believe was ME although was diagnosed with " confusional insanity " back in the 1930's and was locked up in a mental institution. The family say he had " Sleepy sickness " whatever that is. Medics may still be slow to keep up with new developments, but at least times have moved on since then. I'm taking my kidneys to the GP this PM. Don't seem to get mails from UKLYME althugh I think I am a member. Vicki
Guest guest
Babesia can cause blood and protein in the urine (Hematuria and Proteinuria). Babesiosis http://author.emedicine.com/ped/topic193.htm Under " Work Up - Lab Studies " it says " Urinalysis reveals proteinuria and hemoglobinuria. " Hemoglobinuria is when a specific molecule of blood, hemoglobin, is found in urine. You may want to be tested for Babesia. It's VERY important to look for ALL possible causes of this symptom / condition! So don't focus in on Babesia at the expense of the other tests and procedures. However, if all the standard tests and procedures come back " normal " there's a possibility that Babesia is the underlying cause. =) Robynn More information on Babesia: CONCURRENT BABESIOSIS AND LYME DISEASE DIAGNOSED IN ONTARIO http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/pphb-dgspsp/publicat/ccdr-rmtc/98vol24/dr2412ea.html When to Suspect and How to Monitor Babesiosis http://www.aafp.org/afp/20010515/1969.html Human Babesiosis http://www.visitmonmouth.com/06270_mcmec/babesia.html [ ] Blood in Urine / Borrelia? Hi Does any one know if blood in urine is a Borrelia thing? I have had it for at least 10 years and have had kidney function tests and Cytoscopy. Nothing found. Also, I have severe, periodic flares of spasmodic pain which start under my ribs and move into the loin/ kidney area and down my legs. Is this a borrelia thing? Guest guest
> Babesia can cause blood and protein in the urine (Hematuria and > Proteinuria). > Dear Robynn Many thanks for comprehensive response to this worrying question. Much more impressive than any medical specialist I have ever consulted! I will look at the Babesia issue, although it did not show up on the tests done by Dr Walter Tarello. He did find Babesia in my daughter. Cheers Vicki
