Response to your question:

In view of the terrible seriousness of chronic Lyme disease I recommend you

take doxycycline for 60 days with 200 MG daily.

As soon as possible you should consult with a LYME LITERAE MEDICAL DOCTOR who

can have your blood analyzed by a good LYME blood group. The doxy should

almost certainly guarantee that you will not become infected with chronic Lyme

disease. You may have cross infections.

I would find an LLMD fast! Amoxicillin for 10 days is not adequate! You

didn't say what dosage the Dr. put you on. Probenecid can also be used with

amoxicillin to increase & sustain the effects of the amoxicillin. One to two

months would be the minimum treatment to settle for (providing it is the right

dose).

Normally, doxy would be the drug of choice for new bites but with the

approaching warm weather & increased intensity of the sun it can be dangerous to

prescribe at this time.

Keep a diary of any symptoms you may have, as that will help the Dr. with a

clinical diagnosis. Normally, bloodwork would not be done at this time, but in

6-8 weeks if you are symptomatic. Make sure you are tested for all possible

co-infections & a reliable lab is use.

This message is in response to Tickattack's problems with skin rash.

From my own personal experience I have encountered a skin rash caused by the

Lyme bacteria when it is close to the skin surface. The rash problem can be

eliminated by using a heating pad against the rash skin surface as hot as

possible for a good period of time. This will kill the bacteria at the sight of

the rash, but will not kill all the bacteria in one's body.

Hello,

The bite you have described sounds like what mine looked like, except mine was

pink rather than purple. The scab devloped in the center and remained 2-3 days.

It has been 3 weeks now and the suspicious area is still pink but not that

obvious.

I developed flu-like symptoms a couple of days after the bite and was prescribed

doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 10 days.

Many doctors are hesitant to prescribe any medication unless you have other

symptoms but it is such a serious disease that you may want to pursue taking

medication as a precaution - either push with your doctor or find another.
