Guest guest
My son saw him for a sleep disorder for Lyme years ago and he is excellent. I believe the initial eval was about an hour - maybe a bit more. He takes the whole person's history into account before he makes the decision as to what meds to put his patient on. He is a little " out there " but many psychiatrists are quirky. I have a lot of faith in him as he really helped my son with his sleep disorder and the med. they he put him on helped him with his ADD as well. He didn't miss one day of school that year which was his sophomore year of h.s. He is very involved as you know in the Lyme cause and I have to say that my son was one of his first Lyme patients back the early '90's. Guest guest
>>>>> He was willing to work with me and asked me to pick which problems I wanted to address. He was very nice...BUT...a few months later I was having problems with severe depression and they wanted me to wait a few weeks for an appointment. Not a good idea when you are dealing with a depressed person with Lyme>>>>>> Any Psychiatrist that would make a patient wait a few weeks for an appt during an episode of severe depression......isn't worth returning to. I hope you got in to see someone else, immediately. ConnieKnwnj When our bodies & minds are out of balance....... ........we suffer!

Guest guest
Hi Kim- I understand. I relate. You have a better thought of him. I followed Dr. Bransfields instructions when to see him. And medication. He is not " as good as it gets. " He did not " want what's best " . I had a serious crisis. I called to see him sooner. Or talk sooner. He said to wait a month. For my regular visit. I had a problem with his prescrption. At my visit Bransfield did all the talking. About himself. Not about my treatment. I had to stop going. It was harmful. No good resulted. I respect others are helped. Not me. I was happy he knew about Lyme. I changed. Lyme expertise is no use. If treatment is bad.
Guest guest
You should go to a doc you find to be helpful. But I don't think this kind of message should be posted on a public forum. For one thing, doc names are not to be posted. For another, why are you bothered by the fact that he didn't disrupt his schedule, put other appointments aside to deal with your problems? If you had a scheduled appointment, would you want others to pre-empt it, based on the idea their need is more pressing? Some docs do allow phone calls between appointments, so maybe you would be better off with one of those. I will say that I have an on and off doc who took 4 phone calls from other patients during my 5 minutes in his office, after I had waited more than 2 hours to see him. This was not a LLMD. Guest guest
I think in general there are differences in the care we require from a Primary Care Physician and a Psychiatrist. Most of the time psychiatrists will see patients the same day when an emergency occurs. Unfortunately, one cannot get descent (if any) care at an Emergency Room for a psychiatric emergency. Concerning Dr. Bransfield, maybe it would be possible for him to consult with another psychiatrist? Dr. Bransfield can help with the Lyme issues while another doctor could more quickly respond to emergency situations. Another doctor would probably also have more time to work with patients on a more frequent basis. Though Lyme is the underlying cause, general psychiatric medical techniques can be used to help individuals cope with more general issues. This happens all the time with doctors in other fields and other LLMDs. Dr Bransfield's name can be posted on this list. He is a well known public figure in the Lyme disease issue. He has published in JAMA about Lyme disease and even has his own website concerning the disease. Sometimes opinions of the well known LLMDs are not favorable. That's okay. Sometimes patients do not " click " with a doctor and sometimes patients just have a bad experience with a doctor. Talking about these experiences in a respectful way will only serve to help others. One should never be hateful or hurtful in their comments. Explaining one's disappointment in a doctor can result in explanations and solutions that may not be discovered if the disappointment were kept to themselves. =) Robynn -Owner [ ] Re: Dr. Bransfield psychiatrist You should go to a doc you find to be helpful. Guest guest
, Please don't feel bad for posting your experience.......we all have good and bad experiences with Drs. and there is no reason why you can't post about your experience...... I have to agree with you that in Psychiatry, Drs. need to be more flexible in their schedules and of course there has to be time allowed for emergencies...........I know many a time when I called my Psychiatrist, and he made time for me.......within 24 hours......and he definitely consulted with me on the phone and told me to call back if I felt worse before my appt......He always called me back and never told me to wait a few weeks to see him. There are many disorders that need immediate attention. We all need to find the Dr or Drs. that are right for us......I know many people are not happy with my LLMD, yet I found her to be the answer to my prayers.......I went to two other LLMD's prior to this one, that others felt were wonderful......and my experience was horrible...... So you see, we just need to find the right Dr.........what is good for one may not be necessarily good for another.. ConnieKnwnj When our bodies & minds are out of balance....... ........we suffer!
