Hi ,

I had the spect scan ran at Columbia University back in 2002

I was 5 months' into a 18 month protocal of IV Rocephin--so I had no

prior scan to see how bad my hypoperfusion was prior to starting the

IV ABX

It was abnormal at 5 months' rocephin---but the same scan is now

normal

Spect scans record the functioning of the brain at the precise moment

that the test is ran---they can vary from time to time, depending on

what is causing the cognitive problems

PET Scans can be much more acurate, but not always needed?

A good site to check out with regards to the various testing

discussed here.....www.columbia-lyme.org

Hope this helps, Celiene

Hi Ann,

When the scan came back normal---it semed to me that my cognitive

abilities were pretty much back to normal, though I had never had any

abnormalities show up on my MRI's taken during the period of time

that I was dealing with the lyme disease--so I am thinking that I was

one of the lucky ones???? Cognitive testing at that time(when sick)

only showed mild impairments. My husband always said I was thick

headed--and that's why the lyme had to go and hit me esle where!LOL!

I felt pretty foggy much of the time when sick with lyme-but could

function under controled conditions(such as, if I needed to balance

the checkbook----I needed alot of extra time, and a good

caculator,LOL!)It effected me enough, though, that I could not

function at my job, and had to quit working for over 3 yrs

Once I started to feel better--my thinking became much clearer

Much of my SX with lyme were pretty physicial---or so they seem at

the time----pain,ache,fevers,neuropathies, ataxia, headaches--you

know the drill, the list of 99 sx that most, if not all chronic lyme

sufferers get to experince

Happy New Year, Celiene
