It would have been a true miracle if he had not vetoed it. Surely, he is still angry at us for losing the NY world headquarters for Galxco-Wellcome because he could not control our doctors and us to allow fellow Republicans to become rich off of the dangerous LymeRix Vaccine. I am so grateful for your work and dedication and wish this nightmare was over and we were not living under tyranny. Holocaust survivors have been telling us online and trying to get into the corporate controlled media to warn us we are doing the same wrong things for the same wrong reasons as Germany in the middle 1930's and unless we can get our fellow Americans blinders off there is going to be unbelievable suffering and death.Their words, not mine. The handling of Lyme Disease hints that this time they won't need concentration camps to kill " undesirables " . They need only release another germ that targets certain genetic populations and then withhold treatment.. May God and those that love him, our fellow man, and life make sure that doesn't happen. Lynn in St [ ] 7:30PM- GOVERNOR VETOES OPMC BILL Dear Lyme friends, I'm sorry to have to tell you that Governor Pataki did just veto the OPMC Reform bill. Thank you so much to all of you who worked so hard and so long on this bill. For sick people to have shown this kind of valor is amazing. It ain't over until we have protected our doctors. I will be talking to people who have been working behind the scenes to see what steps we can take next. When you've been this sick for as long as many of us have been you sort of learn to become like one of those Shmoo dolls that I used to have as a kid. Do you remember those large weighted balloons that you would sock and it would fall down , but no matter how many times you knocked it down, it would bounce up again. Maybe the image of the Phoenix rising from the ashes is more heroic, but somehow the Shmoo is more like how I feel now. So tonight we're down, but we will pop-up in our old Shmoo-like way soon enough. Anyone who still has energy to call and let the Governor know that he has betrayed some very sick people, please do call. Keep it polite, because it will have more effect that way - not because I am feeling particularly polite to him at the moment. What we have gotten in the last few years is a state legislature that has become sympathetic to Lyme patients . We could not get the Governor to sign our bill because of other pressures brought to bear on him. But we have at least gotten him to hear the Lyme issues - unlike when we started. So there's a lot of work to do. I suspect that the Governor will start again next session (January) on his own OPMC Reform bill and we will get involved with that.. This is just going by what i had heard previously and I won't know this for sure for a few days. So please spread the word about the veto. Cry, scream, throw things. Do whatever you need to do to deal with this disgusting treatment we have gotten from the Governor. But please let's keep united. We will certainly ultimately win. It's just gonna take longer than we thought. Much love to all, Ellen
Guest guest
I can understand the anger and frustration as I feel it, too. But, misplaced anger won't get us anywhere. I'm not a Republican (I'm independent) and my perspective is that there's enough blame in this deal to go around--regardless of party. For those who have read Carroll's Lab 257 (great book for Lymies to read if you want a chance to release your anger!!!), you'll see that both parties have been " a party to " setting us up for the controversies we're experiencing now. I'm in Oregon--a VERY Democratic state (and adjacent to Washington which is, too) and we are said to be the WORST states at acknowledging Lyme. I really don't believe it's just one party--but political interests (and lobbying) on both sides. Guest guest
I'm in Ohio and our medical professionals do not believe Lyme is here either. The best friend a person could ever have continues her 30 year battle with Lyme; and as there are no LLMD's in Ohio, we travel to Dr. B. We grow so very weary of controlling politics, but sadly, politics do control. My friend and I certainly applaud everyone's effort and dedication and will support the next step in any way we can. Guest guest
Moderator, Why must I read this? Why is this on the Lyme board? I am sick of politics. Is this support group for LYME patients who are sick & tired of being sick & tired? I want to learn how to get better. Now I am more sick & tired from politics. I made calls. I hope the bill passes. I don't want to be nagged from now until it happens. I don't want to hear about the Holocaust. Please tell me what board I can read for support only. Sorry if this sounds harsh but one harsh email gets another. Angie > > He is a Republican he must help cover-up the horrible things they are > doing to America and Americans despite anything else. Guest guest
Angie, Sometimes part of feeling bad is venting those negative feelings. Most of the time folks vent about how they hate being in pain, or they hate the fact they can't find a doctor or they hate the times when they can't remember how to drive to the grocery store. At other times, especially when a political issue has been in the forefront, folks will vent about the negative political results. This actually does create support because other members can say, " I understand how you feel. " I'm sorry you were offended by a message. Unfortunately this will happen from time to time. There are almost 1000 members on this list and we don't all share the same opinions on most things. When an offensive message comes through, you're best defense against it is to delete it and ignore it. If it really bothers you, and that's ok, then bring it to my attention, preferably off list. I can usually explain the situation to a member's satisfaction or explain what I am doing to correct the problem. There are no Lyme lists that I am aware of that do not discuss politics on some level. Unfortunately this disease has become political and we will continue to hear of political battles from time to time. Since you've been a member of this list for many years you should be well aware that this list has no specific political agenda concerning the two dominant political parties. This list has never been used to solicit votes based upon political party, though on occasion members have posted that they think a vote for a particular candidate may get the Lyme disease community more support. This is certainly a legitimate part of support. Lyme disease support is not just about emotional pick me ups. Support comes in all forms including information and opinions (negative and positive). It is up to each of us to use the support offered in the way we best see fit. Not everything that comes through this list will be something we agree with, but it may provide support to another. And please keep in mind - I DO NOT moderate every message. Long time members who have a reputation for posting messages that are neither hateful or hurtful have their messages sent to the list without any interference from me. And once a message goes to the list I cannot get it back. As I said previously, from time to time an offensive message will get through. Unless the message develops into a dialogue between multiple members, there is usually no reason to doubt that I have already dealt with the situation behind the scenes. =) Robynn -Owner [ ] Re: Governor Vetoes OPMC Bill Moderator, Why must I read this? Guest guest
Tom, I can't know if it should be read until I read it. The subject did not say Holocaust. I thought this was a support group that was going to stay on topic but I was wrong.
