Guest guest
Or if you can't get drugs, you might try herbal suppliments, although I don't know which ones might work. You might search online, I know in the past I've seen websites for alternative medicine for Lyme. Barb > I've been without a lyme doc now for two months since he closed his > practice. Guest guest
My PCP says lyme is out of her realm of knowledge. I don't have my records yet from the other doc to send down to the new doc and without the information and seeing me he won't prescribe anything. But I dug out my biaxin and plaquinil med bottles and checked them and there are 2 refills left on each. So... I don't know if it was the right thing to do or not but I had them refilled. At least it's something. I was doing okay on both of those before I was switched to doxy. Doxy was the one that I had the bad reaction on. I was on biaxin and plaquinil for quite awhile. maybe it wasn't doing everything it was suppose to be doing, but at least it is something. and something is better than nothing. maybe i'm wrong. ali > Ali, > > I have never seen an LLMD and my PCP always rx abx for me. How about contacting the LLMD you were seeing and asking for something until March? Call your PCP and asking for abx until March? Don't know where you are, but Mexico sells abx OTC. Just some ideas. I know that I can never be off abx that long. > Sue >
Guest guest
Hey Amber. I'm sorry you are so discouraged. Our doc is in New Orleans and is a wonderful surgeon. He loves to teach and definitely would not have ignored your husband. I can image you would be discouraged. It is not ok for the doc to tell you to be happy with what you have. There must be something better. You need another doc. Where do you live? I wish there was something I could do. Hang in there and research in the meantime. You will find your answer. From: amber krasny <am81576@...>Subject: Discouragingcholesteatoma Date: Friday, October 17, 2008, 6:00 PM Hello, I tried to go to a doctor that is only 1 hour away opposed to my normal 12 hours for a visit. This otologist took a look in my ears, sucked out some crap and told me to be happy with what I have. He said even though my hearing nerves are still good the only primary concern with c-toma is to obtain a safe dry ear. My right ear is inflammed and has some drainage. He put some boric acid in and said to come back in 3 weeks after using some cipro drops. I asked what he thought about trying for hearing (i have about 50db in both ears) and he said because I have had so many surgeries in the past (14 with c-toma removal and trying prosthetics) that I should just be happy with what I have. It is so frustrating. I cannot find anyone local that is confident on trying and the one I did have is very old, 81, and he is a 12 hour drive. I was thinking of going to Cleveland clinic but part of me does not even know if I want to go through this anymore. I just wanted to vent that it is so easy for the docs to sit there and say deal with it when it is not them. I also have very little respect for a doctor that comes in the room and does not even address my husband. He is sitting right there in the chair and he does not talk to him or even look at him. It makes me angry when they think they are better than us or something!!!
