For most of my life I have been treated for every symptom of various neuropathic illnesses and have survived daily on a cocktail of medications, mostly antispasmodics, muscle relaxants and pain-killers. Since I began Samento 2 months ago I have needed no pain relief at all and the intolerable muscle jerking has all but stopped. I still take muscle relaxants and antispasmodics, but at a lowered dose. I have tried stopping these but it makes walking very difficult. I have no reflexes in my lower legs/feet and suffer with foot drop which is hard to control without the drugs and I hate wearing leg/foot orthoses. The only other medication that was changed at the beginning of my bash with Samento was a calcium antagonist. I had two heart attacks earlier in 2003 and was left with a fairly severe resting angina. Mononitrates weren't working properly and I was living with an almost constant use of GTN spray. After a heart scan revealed no muscle damage it was found that it was my actual blood vessels that were 'spasming' and causing the lack of oxygen that made me breathless and brought on the chronic angina. Now the calcium antagonist has brought this under control, though these problems wouldn't have accounted for my illness over the last 27 years. Since Samento I am, for the first time in many years, in a position where I can once again enjoy life. I have more energy, can walk good distances, sleep well, and best of all have none of the pain that used to cause major depression and was a destructive influence on my life. I hope this is the miracle that I've always dreamed about. So far it's been an up and down ride but now I seem to have the balance of Samento right (around 5 drops daily) I am OK as long as I don't get stressed!! As to what the Samento is actually doing to me, and why I feel like this, I haven't a clue. All I know was that after many years of suffering a 'progressive neuropathy' borrelia was identified in my blood-stream (September 2003) and I believe, or at least I was told that this is possibly the reason for the multiple disorders that I have... (hopefully that will read 'had' one day). I still have bad days, but nowhere near as many as I used to. I live in hope.... Best wishes' Kezzi. . . . Other patients have had no side-effects. Some have had 'bad' ones. I played around with my dose until I found a balance that suited me. I had worked up to the recommended 15 drops per day (5 drops TD) but now take 4 to 6 drops over the course of a day and have no side-effects. Although it's a non-scientific study you can see our web page at http://tinyurl.co.uk/9aa4 and the reported 'extra' effects that have been recorded there. The first month is enough to put you off <grin> but you need to remember that many of the people who had side-effects reduced their dosage accordingly and had no more complaints. This is reflected by the results in 'Month Two'. I am on Day 62/3 now... just into my third month. Your mention of 'other supplements' leads me to remind all that generally Samento should be taken alone, at least 30 minutes from food or other botanicals. I would say that to take it alone is a good rule to stick too. It's easier to attribute any unusual effects to the Samento. Good luck and best wishes for 2004. Kezzi. . . . I was due to start on doxy and Fowler's but the consultant asked me to try the samento first. I'm still on stand-by for the doxy (or possibly Rocephin) but having pain relief like this is brilliant!!
