The chamber I was in was not a monochamber, I can't handle small spaces either.

This chamber holds 10 people at a time, and the person who is trained and owns

the place was in the chamber at all times with me, that was very comforting.

There were time when I was herxing, dizzy, and very tired when I got out of the

chamber (during the 40 dive protocol) Now, I drive myself for the maintance

dives (every 7-10 days) It is one hr drive for me (in Houston) but, I don't

get sick on the way home. Sometimes by the time I get home, I am tired, but

still fix something to eat and juice carrots/celery/cucumber/ginger.

I personally couldn't handle the claustrophobia of a small

steel/glass monochamber and freaked out when they shut the door and

demanded to get out. Sometimes apparently valium will help some

people.

I also am of the persuasion you don't have to dive down to 30 or 50

feet. But if you do get reactions it could be herxheimer.

On lymenet, wildcondor thinks the monochamber is the best, actually,

and helped her a lot.

It's very good adjunctive therapy. But if you can't handle the small

space consider a multichamber which is like a little submarine and

you can sit up and feel much safer. You're with other people.

You could also check into the home hyperbaric chambers, join this

group: lyme & mild hyperbaric. It's a quiet list but the

archives are good. The home chamber I have is very roomy, two people

can easily lie down or sit up in it so I never get claustrophobic. It

only goes to about 11 feet of pressure.

Marisa

The HBO chamber is in Webster, Tx. It is between Houston and Galveston on 45

South, 12 mi. from the Beltway 8. I live on the west side (Katy) and it takes

me 1hr. to get there.

Name: South Coast Hyperbaric 281-554-8848 (mention my name when you call

them, it will give you a better rate if you are with the Houston lyme group)
