Guest guest
hi wendy i have been on lexapro for 2 years now, and yes i have gained some weight that i attribute to the lexapro...but that does not mean you will gain. my only advice is to give it a chance, i know people who have taken it for 2 or 3 days and stopped, because they said they didn't like the way it made them feel. when i first started taking it i was so sleeply...lucky for me i had a month off from work so i slept like 2 weeks straight...lol.... anyways it has done wonders for me, so just hang in there and give it a chance. Just starting >I just mailed in my scrip to my insurance's mail order, and I will > probably get the pills early next week. Any concerns for a newbie? Guest guest
Thanks so much for your reply. I work quite a bit (about 12 hours a day), and I can't risk being tired on the job. I will start by taking them in the evenings, in case they make me tired. If I can't sleep, I'll try some of the Lunesta the doc gave me. As for the weight gain, I work out a couple of times a week and just enrolled in " bikini boot camp " , with any luck that will counteract the weight gain. My experience on the last batch of antidepressants/antianxiety meds was that I lost, not gained weight, so I guess you never know. I'm not accustomed to taking pills every day since I stopped the antidepressants three years ago (other than the birth control pill), so this will be a challenge I'm sure. Thanks again for replying to my post. > hi wendy > i have been on lexapro for 2 years now, and yes i have > gained some weight that i attribute to the lexapro...but that does not mean > you will gain. my only advice is to give it a chance, i know people who have > taken it for 2 or 3 days and stopped, because they said they didn't like the > way it made them feel. when i first started taking it i was so > sleeply...lucky for me i had a month off from work so i slept like 2 weeks > straight...lol.... > anyways it has done wonders for me, so just hang in there and give it a > chance. > > > > Just starting > > > >I just mailed in my scrip to my insurance's mail order, and I will > > probably get the pills early next week. Guest guest
Hi Jen, Welcome. I am 5'7 " and I weigh 172 pounds. Before I used to say that my goal weight was 135 -140 pounds. Now, I just want to be a perfect size 8 (I am like a 12 right now). I know you may have a different body shape than me, but do you mind me asking what size clothes do you wear? I'm trying to get an idea of what weight and BF% I should aim for. :)Oh,I guess I should give you a tip: Plan your meals in advance > > Hi my name is Jen and I am just starting the BLF program. Guest guest
Kathy, Please, get yourself a book " Eat Fat, Lose Fat " by Enig PhD. She studied fats for more than 30 years and she really knows them. She will be able to put your fears to rest and you will be so much smarter knowing the truth... Barbara A very dear friend sent my family a quart of extra virgin CO and extra virgin Palm Oil. I have started slowly using it in our dinners however I find it difficult to figure out how to " cook/use " it for breakfast and lunch. Also a very big concern for me is my husband has had 2 heart stents in the past 5 years...yes his chlorestrol is a bit higher and is taking an RX med to bring it down...NOW, my question is " If we have HIGH chlorestrol and we start using a high chlorestrol oil...I am confused and scared I could " heal " my husband to death by feeding him MORE chlorestrol. If this sounds " confusing " sorry...I don't know how else to explain. Thanks all you Coconut experts! Kathy
Guest guest
I have 3 brands of coconut oil in my cupboard at the moment. Even though they are considered a saturated fat, all 3 say 0 cholesterol. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but thats what the labels say. My cholesterol has gone down over 30 pts, and basically the only changes is not eating canola or corn oil anymore. I use coconut or safflower oil, or olive oil, depending what I am doing. I do not eat any set amount of coconut oil, but have been trying to put it in smoothies if I think of it, or use it for frying. I can't bring myself to just EAT it by the spoonful. Guest guest
Don't get hung up on cholesterol since high cholesterol is nothing but a " made up " disease that makes drug companies very rich. The body makes most of the cholesterol that we need and eating foods with cholesterol only makes the body regulate its own output. phine > > > I have 3 brands of coconut oil in my cupboard at > > the moment. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Are you looking for a western medical (allopathic) doctor? You might eventually maybe find an older medical doctor who is familiar with CO properties and cures, but most doctors today are not going to give their blessings to a natural cure. You'll have better results from a natural doctor or even an ayurvedic doctor. I have questioned my western " medical " doctors more about contraindications of using natural cures and they seem to be better at addressing those, or at least from the standpoint of " what NOT to do " . I just ask as though I've heard about something being used for this or for that to see what they say, and then I research based on their answers before I actually use it. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I do live in Texas, and I've studied yoga for over 25 years. What I know about hip replacements and knee replacements increases all the time, but it seems sometimes that the more I learn, the less I " know " . I will say that any strengthening of the muscles that support the hip and knee will benefit you regardless and keep your muscles in those areas from atrophy, so just modify any yoga postures you like to eliminate pain. Try to find a " yoga therapist " or simply a good teacher that can help you modify. The benefits of yoga are so profound that it would be a shame for you to give it up because of these limitations. Be patient and love your " replaced " knee and hip. You deserve it. I wish you the best of luck in your search for natural cures. I applaud all who take a proactive approach to their own health care. In our current system, its becoming a realistic necessity. Best, Deborah --- kathy monroe <gifted_gardeners@...> wrote: > I've looked at your site...and I am assuming you are > in Texas. Guest guest
I went to your page and clicked on a link for an inexpensive gallon of coconut oil. I then clicked on the link for more information and read this: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Method Of Extraction Fresh, whole coconuts that are sound and ripe are shelled and then pared to remove the brown skin. The white meat is then milled to fine shreds and dried at a temperature of not more than 100 degrees for an average of 2 hours and 30 minutes. http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/learn/oilprofile/coconut-virgin.php ------------------------------------------------------------------- That does not seem to me to be a brand I would want to use. Guest guest
I use Nutiva, but it isn't VCO, despite their claims. Not a terrible oil, but the only reason I am buying it is because I am broke. I would never use Tropical Traditions. I used to buy from them, but when I had a problem with " catch in the throat " they refused to acknowledge that the problem was caused by their oil going bad. They called it a " healing crisis " . I do notr deal with dishonest companies, no matter how cheap it is. Guest guest
What makes you say Nutiva is not really a VCO? > > > On 8/20/08, <kellythekitchenkop@> wrote: > > > > > > > > Here's the best brand at the best price I've been able to find: > > > > > > > > http://www.kellythekitchenkop.com/2008/06/organic-virgin- coconut-oil-deals-best.html > > > > I plan to research this more later when I get home, but maybe you > > already know: how does this method of extraction compare to the other > > brand on my deals page (Nutiva), and with Tropical Traditions? > > > > Thanks, > > > > > > Method Of Extraction > > > > > > Fresh, whole coconuts that are sound and ripe are shelled and then > > > pared to remove the brown skin. Guest guest
I was contacted off list by someone who is connected with the coconut oil industry. I was asken not to quote them and to keep secret the details of what I had been told. I can't be more clear about what they said. Guest guest
When you say " catch in the throat " , what does that mean? What happens? Is this when taking the oil by itself?
