I although I've been practicing hands-on energy healing (polarity theapy) since 1990, I am not a massage therapist. In my message about this I mentioned: >light massage is fine for people with Lyme. I had mentioned that it was >*deep* massage that my therapist said is to be avoided. She didn't say why. My massage therapist is licensed and has lengthy experience. I know that she has conferred with another highly competent muscular therapist since hearing my Lyme diagnosis. So all I can tell you is what she said and what I have experienced. Once she stopped the deep tissue work in sessions, I could feel the circulatory benefits of the massage. More energy, more mental clarity immediately. I'm sure the increased blood flow is beneficial, but it felt as though over-detoxification was less than helpful. From my own bodywork training and experience I would typically adjust the work to lessen the amount of release if a person was incapacitated from the power of the previous sessions. Do you get regular or occasional massage or bodywork? If so, is it deep tissue work? I'm also wondering, are you a massage therapist yourself? Be well, bluesky
