Guest guest
right. home-made is as good or better than any. lots of folks trying to make money off something so simple, cheap, and easy to do. there's a lot of crappy generators out there way overpriced. the CS they make can still save a life in a pinch though. if i was starting fresh today, i'd get the Pocket Puppy from www.silverpuppy.com, with the upgraded circuit options and a magnetic stir plate. can do gallon batches. well optimized and reliable. they offer a good deal on a mag stir plate and also the HM COM-100 meter which gives an accurate ppm reading of your CS... very nice but not really necessary. i first bought a used colloid master AC from www.wishgranted.com which i still use today. very pleased, i bought the universal model for a backup... the difference is it can run from any 12v source like a car battery or solar panels. they have a dial to set the shutoff point which is handy if you want to make it ridiculously strong like for topical use (deoderant, add to laundry rinse, etc etc). www.silvergen.com makes real nice generators, but you're strapped to silver strips that fit into their holders, and they stir with a built in motor with a plastic rod that can break. kinda pricey, but exc CS. they make some nice large production machines too. i use fat 10ga 99.997% pure silver wire with it from www.atlasnova.com which lasts for years but wouldn't buy their generator. they have very nice laser pointers which are nice to have to look at the beam going through the CS (tyndall effect) and look for sparklies which are large particles... made too strong if you have a lot of sparklies. figure under $325 to get set up real nice with a good automatic generator, stir plate, extra fine silver, laser pointer, high quality meter. forget the meter and laser pointer til some future time maybe, use the silver that comes with the generator until used up, and with the pocket puppy you can make exc clear CS without babysitting it for about $150. if you want to spend time babysitting the process (it accelerates as more silver enters the solution and can go overdone quickly) and make a glass or mason jar at a time, you can just use 3 - 9volt batteries clipped together (adds uip to 27 volts) with wires attached to the silver... no current control = large particles and runaway acceleration. no auto shutoff means you gotta be on top of it. but it's cheap. that's what K. the smurf from Oprah uses. and Stan (was that his name?), the politician that smurfed. you can also use the power from a telephone jack, but be careful you can get shocked if you're holding the wires when there's a call and the phone is powered to ring! If so what equipment do you use? I went on one of the sites and was a little overwhelmed. Several companies, different equipments and of course they all claim to have the best. Store bought CS is just crazy expensive, so that doesn't appeal to me. I take that and have been using CS so I would be most interested in your reply? Thanks Celia Switch to: Text-Only, Daily Digest • Unsubscribe • Terms of Use ..
