Guest guest
i fuzzily recall reading Berkson saying, maybe outdated now, that oral ALA over 800mg/day is wasted.... but not harmful. the R-ALA i bought (Nutrabulk) in 100mg caps has 750 mcg Biotin in it, & i've seen ref to needing it with ALA but don't remember where. Biotin is expensive stuff and hard to find in bulk, but i will get some someday... meanwhile i have B-100's i got cheap from a local shop that gets Amazon overstock stuff by the pallet and include one of those with each dose of ALA... i'm using chinese ALA that i cap up in OO's which is probably about 400 mg each, 2x/day. bought on ebay from Nutrients Scientific (NuSci). also a 100 mg R-ALA with it. it does effect the smell of my urine, for whatever that's worth. i'm about to re-stock ALA from a different ebay seller at a cheaper price... the assay report looks slightly different but very close. it would be nice if i could buy quality ALA. it would also be nice if i could fix my '89 Toyota before it is further damaged by not doing so. it would please me immensely to see big thieves like the high-finance greedscum and their enabling gov't associates paying a fair price for their crimes - that would be something like making any criminal act or summation of multiple acts over any amount of time that profits the equivilant of one average americans lifetime earnings (approx $1 million) be regarded under law as 1st degree homicide with an automatic torturous death sentence (televised), and multiples of that amount result in multiple near executions where they're brought to the brink of a slow miserable death and brought back to start it over again. and have their whole families assets seized, auctioned, & redistributed to environmental cleanup and orgs like Habitat for Humanity, with no recourse or lengthy legal complications. unfortunately the dis-incentives must be adequate to deal with the mentality and over time eliminate them from the gene pool. no doubt some mansion, yacht, auto, & fine art sales would plummet and country club golf courses be closed... oh well. that's my sunday sermon. ________________________________ From: low dose naltrexone [mailto:low dose naltrexone ] On Behalf Of Rahdy@... I think folks say to take 600 mg. of ALA per day - I'm assuming in 2 - 300 doses per day. I've also read some people take Biotin as well - is that in addition to a B-50 with each dose of ALA and how much of Biotin? Thanks for any clarification! Guest guest
Hi, One needs to take a B Complex - either B-50 or B-100 - every time that they also take ALA. And if they take other B supplements, they should be taken with the B Complex as they are better assimilated. B-12 is different and can be ingested, used sublingually or in a chewable tablet at any time. I personally add extra B5 and Biotin and B12 as my readings were low on the Spectracell test. I would imagine that taking a B Complex alone would be sufficient for most folks to take with the ALA. Cheers! Nola Chris In a message dated 5/9/2010 6:21:11 A.M. Guest guest
I just take a multivitamin containing B vitamins (I looked and it also contains Biotin) and I give myself B-12 injections twice a week. I take all 600 mg of ALA at one time but always on a full stomach because it can upset your stomach. It is better to take it on an empty stomach, but my doc says it is okay not to. Guest guest
The typical amount of Biotin that I've read recommended is 1 milligram (1000 micrograms) for each 100 milligrams of ALA. Guest guest
Any chance someone could explain ALA versus R-ALA ... one better than the other, both are useful, the same but different? Color me confused. Bob - sending a universal wish for you for the funds to fix your car - might not help but it couldn't hurt - and since I don't have any extra money laying around it is the best I can do. Guest guest
thanks Jaxi! ALA as produced comes in an even mix of mirror image isomers, R & S forms. it's also called R,S-ALA the body uses R, and the S supposedly is a bit of a detractor but not a big issue... the ALA still works. R-ALA has had the S- removed, so it's more powerful per unit weight, with no detractors. however, dr. Berkson says the process of seperating to make the R- from leaves a chemical trace residue that's very bad (benzene maybe?), very difficult or impossible to get rid of completely, and soit's better to stick with the R,S of good quality. > Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: LDN and ALA - Vit B > > Any chance someone could explain ALA versus R-ALA ... one better than > the other, both are useful, the same but different?
