Guest guest
Hi, Your question is sure a good one.... Yes, there are people who reclaim their lives. It seems to take lots of hard work, determination, and a blend of different modalities to get better...but I am no expert. My son, age 16, is currently on I.V. Rocephin and flagyl every day. Orals just didn't seem to be working, and I do believe that in his case, I.V. was necessary to turn him around. He'd been infected in 1998 and not diagnosed until early this year -- by that time he had just about all of the horrible symptoms, including seizures and hallucinations. It has been a nightmare. He is doing much better, but still has some mighty bad days. He was infected for a very long time before treatment started, like many others. Everyone tells me that beating Lyme takes an incredible amount of patience and fortitude. We have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on testing, treatment and supplements. We will beat it if it doesn't beat us first!!!! Just kidding...we really HAVE to keep fighting with everything we've got and keep a positive attitude. You will get better! ~Judie
Guest guest
My clinic puts in a site in my hand or arm once a week. She does not like the idea of it any other way. Picline or portacath she feels take too big a risk for infection. I know people that have had good results with the latter 2 so I guess it just depends on the doc. Either way you have good days and bad. My biggest problem is I get too active and blow a vein. Then return to the clinic and get another line. My activities are sitting at the computer and my desk working on geneology books for my children for Christmas. I go to the library and sometimes I try to carry too much in my arms. Yes it is sad we have to have IV however IV is better than the alturnative huh. Lyme brain here, still cannot remember how to spell, sorry. I wish you wellness and am praying for you Jeri in IN USA We can do it together! _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
Hi and welcome! Most people with " advanced " lyme disease (like me) seem to hope mainly for remission of symptoms and not necessarily a " cure " because that is hard to define in practice. Are you " cured " if you have no symptoms for a month? Or a year? Two years? Dunno. It seems this bacteria can really hide and mutate and dodge antibiotics and our immune system really well. You're not sure when you contracted Lyme so it is hard to say how long you've had it. The ideal situation is to have the bite, the rash, and then immediately get massive antibiotics to kill the bacteria before it gets into all the nooks and crannies to hide. Most people don't fit into this ideal unfortunately. But, in answer to your question, people DO get well. Being well is not necessarily the same as having no spirochetes in your body however. I think we will always have to be more aware of what our bodies are telling us to head off a relapse in the future if we do get well (aka asymptomatic). I'm very glad to hear that someone has money and a good support network! Most people don't and it's just so disheartening. I hope you find this group supportive and informative. I do. Jen ----- Original Message ----- From: " leanasims " <wayward@...> I probably got Lyme last winter, but didn't get diagnosed (oops, I diagnosed myself, of course) until August. I have Kaiser insurance, and here in Northern California they still deny the existence of Lyme disease. I'm amazed to read so many stories from all of you, and completely baffled about why this disease is so political. I'm into my third month of antibiotics, Biaxin, Flagyl and Perquinel after three horrigying months of doxycycline and I'm suffering mightily. What I want to know is, does anyone recover? Thanks to Dr. D in Petaluma, California I got treatment right away but I'm still fairly advanced, having 33 of Dr. Burrascano's symptoms at the beginning. Also, can anyone tell me about the IV process? Is it very painful? Maybe I don't want to know. I think the current wisdom among LLMDs is that you can't fix advanced Lyme without it, does anyone feel otherwise? I'm so happy to find you all, fellow sufferers. Somehow it helps to know I'm not so alone. So many of your stories are the same as mine. Fortunately I have a very loving and supportive husband and enough money for treatment..... Guest guest
People with Lyme do get well, but in my experience, it has to include the best of three worlds - a balance between medicine, nutrition, and spirituality. While you are undergoing the prescribed aggressive treatment by your Lyme doctor, you must adjust your diet accordingly, and eliminate such foods as white flour, yeast, artificial color and sweeteners and of course sugar. Make sure you get outside every day because that will help you avoid depression, and exercise and stretch if you are able to a little every day. Do something nice for yourself every day also, i.e., a hot bath, candles, quiet time, meditation and of course if you are having a good day, there is always shopping. I had Lyme from 1989-1995 as did my children, and we ran around in circles with the medical profession, not really getting well long enough to get back to a normal and happy life, and then I as introduced to Sunrider Herbal Foods, which gave me and my family back our lives, as we finally had energy, brain clarity and stamina for daily living, including returning to school and work. If you would like to learn more about this, feel free to e-mail me personally. Sue Rauch Sue Rauch
Guest guest
I am back online and this is the 1st e-mail I saw. The answer is YES!!!!! I am living proof. I am a 45yr old mom of 6, ALL have lyme, and I was so sick with lyme that I was paralyzed from the neck down in May 1999. I had EVERY symptom of lyme and thought I was going to die. (even had the suicidal...). My husband has been very sick also, severe tachycardia. I have tried many, many modalities and have been writing to over 7,000 people since 1998 as to what works and what doesn't. I have been a HUGE lyme advocate, attending conferences, political rallies, etc. at my cost to fight for the cause of lyme. This has lead me to a career as a Health Practioner in which I specialize in Iridology, which is assessing one's health, genetic make-up, toxicities and accumulations in the colored part of the eye. Every organ, tissue and nerve is connected via the eye and is represented. What this means is a medical dr. cannot tell you what is going on in your liver, say, but I can. It is an incredible tool to help people with their health. I am also finishing my degree as a Naturopathic Dr. (Dr. of Natural Medicine) and am a nutritionist. I am not soliciting for business, what I AM doing is giving my background because I have the PASSION to help others, $ is not my motivation. I have been to hell and back with lyme and KNOW how to help others. I encourage anyone to write me and ask whatever ?s you would like; it is free. Please write me @ suemassie45@... so I can personally answer it. This e-mail address is always full. I only represent the TOP companies when it comes to supplements/vitamins/etc. and the cost is no more than your health food stores but MUCH better quality. I give the information and then I expect the individual to do the research and make up THEIR mind~~ after all, GOOD HEALTH IS YOUR CHOICE!!! sue massie sue in nj
Guest guest
Sue, re: Sunrider, I thought there weren't going to be any more personal advertisements on this list anymore? I thought Robynn had taken care of that?
Guest guest
Sue Rauch: your story is so hopeful...I think that staying away from sugars and carbs must be helpful...I am trying hard to do this. I love veggies so this is not a problem but my gut isn't being too kind. Hugs, Donna

Guest guest
Donna, I know what you mean about the veggies. We can't eat that many veggies without getting gassy and bloated. That's why I do Nuplus, which is a highly digestible formula (powder) , which is highly concentrated veggies/food based herbs, which nourish the body. One scoop is like eating a room full of the best fruits and veggies on this planet, which are picked in the best parts of the world. This and some other wonderful products is what gave me and my family back our health. We nourished-balanced and cleansed our way back to a normal life. I couldn't recommend it more, and will eat these foods for the rest of my life, as millions of others are doing all over the world. These are really the top of the line products and the only thing that worked for us. Sue Rauch
