Guest guest
No, my son has not had it yet. I feel like I need to phone people just to let them know he was around someone who had it so that if something does happen to their kids they are not surprised. I just feel bad for the mom's with 5-9 mon olds because we hs and if my son was not there for these " after preschool gatherings " the kids never would have been exposed. I am having a hard time with that one. I am sure they all vaccinate their kids, we are the only ones who don't and I have never made it known. I still would not get my kids the shot anyway. Guest guest
But having been exposed, your son could unknowingly have infected your daughter who would still have probably passed it on at this group because she could have been infectious before spots appeared. Don't put yourself on a guilt trip, . If these other kids have all been vaxed, then the mums have nothing to fear. And neither your son nor daughter may prove to be susceptible. So you may be beating yourself up for nothing! Out of curiosity, where would the original little chap have got it from? Is he vaxed? Sue > > No, my son has not had it yet. Guest guest
No, he is not vaccinated. Neither is the sister. I just learned that if you do not have a fever and/or sores that you are not contagious. I feel much better because that means that my kids did not possibly infect anyone if they are incubating it. It has been seven days today since they played. I guess the fever occurs before the actual eruption. I am not beating myself up now because neither of my kids had a fever monday, or any other day. They are never sick, so chances are they may not even get it. I have heard of kids who are exposed and never come down with it. Of course I would prefer for them to get when they are young, I just wanted to be sure that if they would get it that we would knowingly expose them and keep them properly away from places like my daughter's playgroup, where there are small babies. Thank you for the feedback! >From: " Mum2mishka " <mum2mishka@...> >Reply-Vaccinations ><Vaccinations > >Subject: RE: Help? >Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2005 20:17:03 -0000 > >But having been exposed, your son could unknowingly have infected your >daughter who would still have probably passed it on at this group because >she could have been infectious before spots appeared. > >Don't put yourself on a guilt trip, . Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to add, there is no point worrying about this. Despite the hype, chicken pox is no big deal. It's a vaccine I wouldn't consider for a second. Kids are supposed to get it. I'd be so happy to know that my child had been exposed to chicken pox - especially if I was still breastfeeding (5-9 mo). Be proud of your stance on vaccines - and don't fear these childhood diseases. Keep your children in good health, and I'm sure you do - and don't let the fear mongers win! Cheers Naomi, refusing to be frightened by the fear mongers NSW, Australia > No, my son has not had it yet. Guest guest
Hi, I am not worried at all by this disease. I had it, my siblings had it. There are mothers with three kids under 21/2 and I cannot imagine how I would handle three small little ones sick at once. I now understand that by not being feverish or having lesions that it is not transmissable. My kids did not have a fever when playing with these little ones, so as far as I know we did not transmit anything, even if they did get it. On the other hand if we do not get it, then I can try and expose them and take the proper means to keep them away from babies who could catch it from them. I really appreciate all of the feedback! , ca >From: galah_1@... >Reply-Vaccinations >Vaccinations >Subject: Re: Help? >Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2005 21:11:26 -0000 > > >Hi , > >I just wanted to add, there is no point worrying about this. Your not going crazy. I have some actually. get it at Micheals. there is two kinds. One is at joanns forgot where think in the plaster and fimo dough section. But that you mix part a with b and stick in in something like a shoe box and then stick your think you want to mold it. Personally it sounds like ALOT of waist to me. The kind I got I got from Micheals. It is in a white plastic 16oz sized jar. All you do is take it and brush it onto what ever you want to mold. Apply at least 3 layers. and then peel it away. I used it on a glass unicorn I had to make unicorn soaps. The only down fall is that It has a fairly strong Amonia smell. But you can use it for all kinds of stuff. Its fun.And a little jar goes a LONG way. And so, I am on a couple of ie lists. Three of my cyber friends have lost a pup this year, and I wanted to let them know I was thinking about them. I made a little ie dog head, then formed " wings " behind it (ie Angel) out of Sculpey clay. I then made a smallish bar- shaped rectangle to mount it on so I could make my own mold. I am soooo anxious to make this into a bar of soap!!!! I have gotten " Oomoo " from Smooth-on, (thank you so much for the info,Shaye!!!!) but I ran out and am wanting to expedite this thing! Yes, I AM impatient! The Oomoo must be similar to the components sold at JoAnn's, as you must mix two different compounds to form each mold. These molds do turn out to be VERY rugged and reusable. I do know that if these soaps turn out as cute as I think they will, I will probably need to order LOTS of Oomoo and made a multi-mold!!! Thanks again! Sounds familiar, doesn't it? I actually was not able to read email again til this morning, as Mark had promised the kids to look at bikes, and we left shortly after I posted yesterday. Guest guest
> Here's my question about making one's own molds. If I use, say, a figurine > to make a mold, am I violating a copyright? > > Beth > Well It depends as to what you do with the item you are molding and probably the company of the item you are using. When I did my first mold project in college we had to take an object and make a plaster mold out of it and then make at least 3 duplicates of the item. We then had to do things with the molded object in order to make the items appear differant. To me that was the fun part. I knew I wanted to do an animal but the only thing I found was a Plastic Pluto baby toy. I brought it in and we discused that Technically making a mold out of a DISNEY caracter was in fact a problem. However since i wasn't selling the duplicates then it was safe. Also since I was modifying the items and that the finished product didn't look like pluto all the better. Which was true I ended up carving off the droopy ears making them short or turning them into horns and making him a vampire holding a pumpkin or adding extra plaster to the face turning him into a boxer dog(boxer shorts and mitts included)Or covering it with fur and making it a funky looking poodle. Can we say I had a whole series going I think i ended up having a basket ful of 12 puppies total. I definatly got an A on that project and it was so fun as well. So if you do plan on selling the item then you need to modify the item to be molded somehow and modifying it somehow is the best thing to do either way. but i think that if the item is old. think vintage or somehow unrecognisable somehow and the company doesn't make the item anymore i think you might be safe. Though a slight modification is best. Think about all those companies who make look alike products (vases, lamps, cleansers, so on)

Guest guest
lemme do some research to see if I can find out anything for you . But my instincts tell me its your lymph nodes and inflamation could mean any number of things . Help? Hello everyone I am new to this message Board but I have new symptoms that concern me and having a hard time finding the answers I need. I was diagnosed with Hep C in 1994, until recently I've been fine, I am having some problems with lumps in my neck there are about 4 of them all the way down the back side of my neck on both sides they cause head aches in the back of my head and stiffness in my neck, I am also extremely tired all the time, sometimes I have problems catching my breath, my question is anyone else experience this and know if these symptoms are hep c related? any help would be great I can't afford to go the doctor right now since I've been laid off from work. Guest guest
Here is something about hepatitis and it mentions lumps in the neck Hepatitis Alcohol can damage the liver even in moderate quantities. Alcohol is a concentrated sugar which causes fat to be deposited in the liver. For those who drink only occasionally, the damage is temporary and the liver can usually 'bounce back' to normal after several days of rest and clean living. Those who drink more often don't give the liver a chance to recuperate from the alcohol poisoning and more serious damage to the live can result. In some cases alcohol abuse can lead to alcoholic hepatitis or cirrhosis. As mentioned before, the liver is one organ which has the amazing ability to regenerate itself. Cirrhosis is a condition in which a liver damaged by disease, alcohol or drugs doesn't grow back 'good as new.' In cirrhosis, the liver forms fibrous scar tissue and lumpy irregular nodules as it regenerates. In advanced cases the liver becomes so badly scarred by cirrhosis that it can no longer do its work, and the afflicted person dies of liver failure. The liver as we know has well over 500 functions in the human body. Below are some functions of this amazing organ: Metabolizes proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, thus providing energy and nutrients Stores vitamins, minerals, and sugars Filters the blood and helps remove harmful chemicals and bacteria Creates bile which breaks down fats Helps to assimilate and store fat soluble vitamins (A,E,D,K) Stores extra blood which can be quickly released when needed Creates serum proteins which maintain fluid balance and act as carriers Helps maintain electrolyte and water balance Creates immune substances such as gamma globulin Breaks down and eliminates excess hormones Vascular (blood management) Provides blood clotting factors Breaks down ammonia (and other toxins) created in the colon by bacteria; thus preventing death Helps to maintain blood pressure Constructs cholesterol and estrogen, reconstructs hormones Humanizes nutrients, metabolizes protein, carbohydrates, fat for energy Synthesizes urea, constructs blood protein, interconverts amino acids Constructs 50,000 systems of enzymes to govern metabolic activity throughout the body Removes damaged red blood cells Liver WeaknessSigns and Symptoms Depression, Anger, Frustration, Lumps in neck, breast, etc., Poor digestion Dizziness, Eye problems, Red or flushed face, Irritability, Ringing in the ears, Warm palms and soles Hypertension, Migraines and other types of headaches, Dizziness, Insomnia, Violent anger, Bitter taste in mouth Weak tendons and ligaments, Chronic menstrual problems, Scanty menstruation Rigid body, Vertigo, Extreme dizziness, Severe pain, Convulsions, Spasm. Tremors Constipation, Sinus congestion, Allergies, Hemorrhoids, Excessive Mucus Difficulty in breathing, Fatigue, Respiratory distress, Gas, Bloating, Cholesterol problems, Skin problems. Chronic degenerative diseases, Cancer, Diabetes, Arthritis, Osteoporosis Unfortunately blood testing has no real way of telling us the health of our liver or our biological age. But we have discovered that by the time you have reached the age of 30 your liver is probably functioning at 75% of its ability at best. The health and vitality of all body systems depend to a large extent on the health and vitality of the liver. Because we are constantly bombarded by toxins in our air, water and food, it is a good idea once or twice a year to renew the health of a clogged and overworked liver with a detoxification regimen. Also if you have been using prescription drugs (antibiotics and/or tranquilizers), for any length of time, your immune system may be exhausted, and it's essential to rejuvenate and flush your liver to release stored toxins. As you learn more about your body, always remember how vital your liver is to maintaining good health. It's not something we think about all the time, but the common problems of an abused or toxic liver will speak to you with many symptoms. You know your body better than anyone else.. listen to it. Hepatitis A, B Pathological Considerations: An inflammatory disease of the liver caused by viral or bacterial infections or a variety of toxic agents characterized by jaundice, fever or enlargement of the liver, often resulting in fatty degeneration and cirrhosis of the liver. Physiological Considerations: Damage to the liver with fatty degeneration and scar formation may cause accumulation of ammonia in the blood which comes from the breakdown of body proteins and is accelerated by stress. Hepatitis C, D, E Pathological Considerations: An inflammatory disease of the liver caused by viral or bacterial infections or a variety of toxic agents characterized by jaundice, fever or enlargement of the liver, often resulting in fatty degeneration and cirrhosis of the liver. Here is one article about lumps in the neck and possible causes http://www.drkoop.com/ency/1/003098.html Help? Guest guest
Shaye Not to make light of your husband's misfortune, but after I read your first sentence I had to recheck who sent the email because I was SURE it was going to have Colleen's name on it. Can you afford to hire a woman to come in and take your place as his wife for a month or so? (lol) Seriously , how did he manage to break his leg anyway? It must have been a pretty serious break for them to keep him in the hospital. It wasn't a compound fracture was it? My first husband had a bad motorcycle accident when we were in our mid twenties and my daughter was 2 yrs old. They had to operate and put pins in his leg and he had a cast on right up to his crotch for months. I remember for the first month or so before they could put a knee hinge in the case, if he had to go anyplace I had to put the back seats down in the car, open the backhatch and he'd have to lay down and inch himself inside and ride laying down the whole way to our destination. Needless to say we didn't go very far for the first month. Our house had all the bedrooms on the 2nd floor and the only bathroom was upstairs, too. So we had to turn our livingroom into a bedroom by renting a hospital bed and a portable toilet chair from the pharmacy. What made things worse was that the day he had the accident he had just been given permission by his doctor to return to work as a fireman after having surgery for testicular cancer and had gone through weeks of radiation treatments. I came real close to having a nervous breakdown!! Boy, those were some tough times. Good luck to you both and no matter what......keep your sense of humor or you'll go nuts. Help? Hey guys. My hubby broke his leg yesterday. This is a first for us after all these years. First bone break (well, major bone anyway), first hospital stay (for him), first time he has ever been incompacitated or whatever. He is in a full leg cast and I think I can pick him up from the hospital today. Ok what Im asking is does anyone have any advice taking care of this man with a full leg cast on for the next weeks? Im sure he will be staying on the sofa bed for a while so he dosnt have to do the stairs. You can prive email me if you feel like that. Thanks! Shaye -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Thanks and thanks everyone that prive emailed me. Its been a real rough weekend for him. And of course we are only on day 3. It was a pretty bad break in his leg but not compound. He had a sprial type of fracture on his tibea starting about mid way up and going around to the side and down to the ankle and I guess there were shards. Thats the best I can describe how the dr described it. He had taken friday off and went skiing with his freind from work. This was was his first time downhil, he usualy does cross country. And at the end of the day he fell in a freaky way and it broke. I guess whatever conditions that would make pins possible were not there and a rod was iffy. Actually the dr thinks he can still put a rod in which hubby seems to be considering because this cast (toe to upper thigh) is really making him mad. He has to go see this dr again this week. But anyway Yes we do have a bathroom downstairs and he has taken over the sofa so we are managing that, and he could even probably do some work for work if he could get to his computer but right now its too painfull to go upstairs. Oh well. What you gonna do. Sorry to be kinda graphic about the break, I know that bothers some folk. LOL yea it wou ld be a good time to do a wife swap. LOL He actually has been ok with me thought, not too grumpy. Oor maybe this is just his natural state anyway . LOL ohh Im kidding. Shaye -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
> ... I had to recheck who sent the email because I was SURE it was going to have Colleen's name on it. ROFL! Yeah, I had to make sure I hadn't written it too! Don't jinx us though cause I'm pretty sure dh is due for something else to happen to him. I mean, it has been a month since his last injury so he's probably due for another. Guest guest
Oh Shaye!!! I have been having problems with my email lately and somehow I missed this...I am reading from the ey site now, and I read your later post....POOR FRED!!!! You are not going to BELIEVE this, but I have my radio on Family Life Network (a Christian station that broadcasts across NY and PA) AND, they said that a 17 yo was killed at Holiday Valley this weekend, and there were three OTHER serious skiing accidents at Holiday Valley and Peak N' Peak this weekend!!! (people running into trees) Now..I suppose this happened at Bristol Mountain? BM is known across the state for being quite dangeous. Ugh! All of this aside, I cannot give you advice from the standpoint of living with a huge cast, but I do know that a hubby that cannot WALK needs a LOT of attention! ( " Honey, can you grab that insurance paperwork for me? Oh, and while you are at it, could you get me an icewater....with lots of ice? And, by the way, did you notice that the wastepaper basket here is kind of full, and I can't see out of the window cause of the smudge? And, when you get a minute, could you make me a sandwich? And, the cat seems to want to go outside! " YOU, my dear, will need to develop a GOOD sense of humor!!! heheheeheh I pray that the healing process is speedy and Fred's recovery is a realy great one! I can't imagine trying to live with a big cast myself!!! It always helps if we put ourselves into THEIR shoes, cause it becomes REAL easy to feel sorry for ourselves as caregivers! Did the DR say how long the big cast needs to remain on? Well, my best advice is this: try to think of some cool things you can do together and enjoy...watch videos...plan a romantic Valentine's dinner with just a little bit of a twist to it! Have Fred look at cookbooks and see if anything sounds really good. I know how hard it is to live with a disability! And, I know that if we do not think creatively, life gets to be a real drag quickly. Perhaps now would be a good time to buy a laptop and a network so Mr Fred could do some puter time! Please take care, and try to enjoy this time together. It may seem like it is taking forever, but in the grand scheme of things, this will be but a small drop in the bucket! Hugs to you, the girls, and Fred! Kae > > > Hey guys. My hubby broke his leg yesterday. This is a first for us after > all these years. Oh he does have a cloud of doom hanging over him. It's been there his entire life. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen to . That's one thing we can count on. We're still waiting for that " one day " to come along when things turn around, and waiting, and waiting. Guest guest
Thanks Kae, Yep it he was at Bristol. Ohh we are getting along pretty good. Not too grumpy so far but today he treid to get up and do too much like get around or sit at my computer which IS downstairs and stuf like tht for a while but then his toes started swelling so he has been back down all afternoon. A laptop would be ideal for him but its not going to happen. He just isnt comfortable after a while laying there but we are figuring that out too. The Dr said in cast for 12 weeks. He has a dr appointment on thursday to see how everything is going so far. So... Im not whining or anything like that. As long as he has a good sence of humor, I will too.
