question about hair loss

I also have quite a bit of hair loss, but it began well before I started LDN. I

always assumed it was my thyroid since I often have cold feet and these are both

symptoms of a thyroid problem. I'm hoping LDN will help my thyroid in the long

run, but also have joined an iodine group and am playing with the idea of adding

Iodoral to my regimen.

> Good Morning Group!

> The recent posts about hair loss that sometimes occurs on this program due to

the scalp detoxing have really caught my attention. I have also researched

other ketogenic diets, and all of them report hair loss as a common occurance,

but I cannot get any solid info as to what to expect regarding re-growth. I

have come to terms with the possibility of losing my hair, but am really

struggling with the possiblity that it might not grow back again.

>

> I have read the success stories that Bee posted and noted that a some people

report hair regrowth, but I can't determine if hair regrowth is something that

is definately going to happen for every person who continues on the program, or

if this just happens for some people.

>

> Since people who faithfully adhere to this program have consistant and

predictable results, I was hoping that you all could shed light on this process.

>

> 1. Does hair loss happen to every one, or is it only somethng that occurs in

some people and not others?

+++Some people do not lose much hair at all, and others do not lose any hair.

>

> 2. What percentage of people on this program lose their hair?

+++I wouldn't know that. Are you suggesting this program causes it, and not the

necessary healing and detoxifying processes a particular person's body needs to

go through?

>

> 3. At what point in the program is hair loss expected to occur (ie after 6

months? one year? two years?)

+++It happens at different times for different people.

>

> 4. Is the hair loss severe or mild? Does total baldness ever happen?

+++Again, what point are you trying to make?

> 5. Does hair always grow back, or is the hair loss ever permanent?

+++All I could possibly know is from people who report about their hair loss;

otherwise I wouldn't have a clue.

>

> 6. Do you have to go off the program to get hair regrowth?

+++This program would only contribute to hair loss because it is necessary for

that person's body to detoxify through the head and scalp, but once detoxifying

is completed hair should regrow unless other factors interfere, i.e. the person

doesn't follow the program accurately and/or doesn't do it long enough to

completely detoxify and heal, stresses in the person's life, age, how much

damage was done, nutritional status from their parents, etc.

>

> 7. Is there a way to prevent hair loss, or encourage regrowth if it occurs?

+++Healing and detoxifying is different for each person, and different for each

part of a person's body, including the head and scalp. You would be encouraging

regrowth by continuing to give your body what it needs to detoxify and heal

itself.

+++But the bottom line is that no promises can be made. We only know that many

people's hair grows back as they continue getting more and more healthy.
