It is a good poll with one exception.... I can't pick either one.

(1. That it has gone to the dogs. OR 2. that my sex drive has

gotten better or stayed the same.)

I feel that #2 may be implied as person actually *has* a sex drive to

begin with and it remained unchanged... rather than my case:

3. Began with zilch drive and nothing has changed.

I realize that I may be way off base with my interpretation, and take

full responsibility for my interpretation. I don't speak for anyone

but my self. I'm not complaining about the surgery, and realize my

lack of drive for over 9 years may be connected with depression,

chronic pain issues, sexual molestation issues, ect, ect, ect... ad

nauseum. LOL

6.5 Lbs lost in the 15th month postop!

Hi Michele,

Great Idea, I love polls! I would love to see an official count of left-ear vs. right-ear vs. both ear sufferers. I don't know, maybe a poll for each of our major topic discussions ... did your doctor do a CT scan? What were you told about swimming? Do you have prosthetics (sp) ? Can you hear? Anyone else in your family have c-toma?

This will be fun to see. Thanks for doing this.

Thankfully, only myself and two others had voted so I am asking if the 2 of you could vote again. The change is that it displays your id and I need this for the purposes of the database. I understand if you do not want to vote, but I hope everyone still does! Thanks, Michele

Hi ,

How are you doing? Haven't heard from you for awhile.

How is your ear doing? Larry is doing fine.

Thanks for the ideas on questions. I will get to

them, but it might take me awhile because I'm trying

to get all the poll answers into a database I am

creating. I'm not sure where I am headed with this,

but we will see!!!

Glad to hear from you!

Hi ,

I'm sorry you can't access the poll. can be really unfriendly

sometimes and I have no way of helping you. The results will post

to the list when the poll is over.

About the only way you can fix this is to give yourself a new e

address (say a address) and use it for CI Hear but you still

have to keep track of your ID and password.

usually pretty busy... evenings are the best for me most of the time.

Dora is right there ,

The # of people on the forums is small compared to those who are

actually implanted.

I found out about ci's through my mom who was implanted 10 years

prior to me. She heard about the implant from a Social Worker who

had read about the implants and who was really interested in them as

he worked with the deaf.

I tell people whenever I get the chance to have a friendly

conversation with them, but I never push or make someone listen to

me if they aren't interested.

I've also had the opportunity to do a segment on our local fox tv

station so there are many ways for people to learn about ci's.

Hugs and have a great Day.

I first heard about the Cochlear implants back in the '80's when I

read about it in the paper but I was not interested in them as the paper said

that they were for those were so profoundly deaf that hearing aids didnt do

them any good. I had severe to profound hearing loss biaurally. Then a couple

years later an ENT specialist said that I would qualify for one about 5 years

down the road; I still wasnt interested. Fast Forward to 2002 , the same ENT

specialist told me another 5 years but my interest was started to pick up as

I could no longer wear a hearing aid in my left ear comfortably. I told my ha

audie this who told me about this audie who does CI's. The rest is history.

[ ] Re: Poll...

Hi, Sorry...It seems the polls I posted are not opperating the way

they should. I divided the states into western and eastern lists due

to the fact that you can only put 25 choices under one question.

However it will not allow more than one vote per person per state. I

am going to try to change this if I can.

When You edit a poll it starts it all over again...loseing all the

votes already counted. I am first going to run a test poll with just

five states just to see if it will allow us to vote for each member

of our household that has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

There will be a message sent about the test poll, and it will only

run untill tomorrow.

If I can get the settings to let us register our votes correctly. It

will mean I will have to change the first polls...that would erase

all the votes already made, so we would have to go back and re-vote.

Again sorry about this, it's my first try at setting up a poll...Oh

well the Brothers didn't get to fly the first try either...LOL

Thanks

Thanks Robynn,

Is there any way to allow more than one vote per household? I did a

trial test and changed to the more than one vote option, but it only

allows you to choose more than one state! Not vote more than once for

the same state...

Tha only other thing I can think of would be to have those who have

more than one member in there household, to vote for the state they

were diagnosed in, then send me or you or both the count of the

remaining persons of their household. I would then keep a count for

the final outcome of the poll.

What do you think? I am open to any avice...

Well.....you can add the Family to the we have Lyme Disease in Alabama

poll.

There are six of us and all six tested positive to the bacteria. Of the six,

two had enough bands to be reported to CDC, one had a much higher than

required number of bands, then three had one band under to report to CDC.

Need any more info......email me!

Each member can vote for multiple answers, but can only vote for each answer

once.

I still think this is a worthy cause. Look at it as a poll about Lyme Aid

members, and only Lyme Aid members. You can see which members were

diagnosed in what state. Though a Lyme Aid member may have other family

members who are also sick, this poll is about the Lyme Aid members not their

families.

Really a poll on Lyme Aid should only provide you with information about

Lyme Aid members anyway.

That's how I would approach it. However, you can try anything you wish.

Let me know if I can help!

had to stop. However, I do give him a call now and

Also, when I'm not doing so well I talk to the

I used to see a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at a clinic about 50 miles from

my home. Prior to that, I saw a Psychiatrist. After the PNP closed her

practice, I approached my primary care doc and asked him if he would be willing

to manage my psych meds as I was/am very stable. He said he was willing to try

it and so far, so good. He did add Wellbutrin to the mix and it works great.---

> I was wondering about a question I have and was interested in

finding out what others felt about this question as well.

> Do LP's feel differently about each other based on what type of

dwarfism the other has?

Yup:P

The following as to perhaps why that is, and it's my opinion only,

is thus:

Some of it might be due to the fact that they may have been isolated

by those around them, the aps in their community growing up as one

example only. So now being in a group where everyone is the same, at

first, as we're all dwarfs or we're all 'dwarfed' actually, they then

realize, " Hey, we're the same, but 'I DO see' we ARE different, " the

key here as well, " each with our own CONDITIONS and restrictive or

inhibiting handicaps too. "

So, perhaps, it's like pay back, tho not intentionally or even this,

done consciously... rather they have been sooo used to being isolated

and/or held back themselves by those around them based on their

height, beauty, sex, intelligence, physical ability or lack thereof,

they are now in on a 'level' playing field, so to speak, where

everyone may be dwarfs or 'dwarfed', true, but they now do it to

others, others within their own group:(. Maybe, to get a respite from

it all, of all they went through. A break, so to speak, from all the

years that it was done to them?

In some ways, I've actually seen this happen, a few lps who have

complained about being 'controlled' and 'dominated' by the aps around

them, and we all know who they are because they are the same ones who

come on here time and time again with the same old negative sing song

of how they hate what this or that ap has done and/or said to them, be

it in the past or in the present... but once they get 'into' here, a

world that by all appearances looks as though everyone is 'equal', so

to speak, it is not:(. It is definitely not:*(. Because, again, once

'a few' of them get into here they start to do exactly the same thing

they say they hated having done to them, but now and this the key

here, they are the master and no longer the slave to the same

oppression they once hated. It's like the Stockholm Syndrome taken to

the next level. The Stockholm Syndrome being in short, no pun

intended:P, the captive falls in love with the captor, even in spite

of the captor's previous brutal treatment of them. Why, because the

captive has gotten sooo used to being treated that way, the captive

doesn't know any other way:(. Thus, once the captive is truly 'free',

you would think, " Wow, they will know better now not to get into that

situation again, hopefully " and they (usually) don't. Why, again, that

is all they have known, sad to say:(. So, what happens is 2 fold,

usually. When a Stockholm Syndrome captive is set free, they

either seek another one to be subject to again, or they take it the

next level. And that level is, they now become the captor, and

unfortunately that usually ends up being one or all of us:(.

However, now their field of 'subjects' or 'us' is narrowed down even

further, whereas previously their captor's only difference was one,

they were taller or ap. But, now their being in a group where everyone

is lp or like themselves, they must now find 'a' difference, 'any'

difference, be it (one vs many), be it conditional ('s vs

Achon), economical (rich vs poor), educational (college vs non),

regional (West coast vs East coast), sex (male vs female), physical

ability (severity of hindrance vs none), height (under five footers vs

under 4 footers vs 3 footers vs all aps even if they are loved ones of

our own), race (black vs white), and even ideological (for example, if

they strongly believe in an issue, YOU must not only AGREE with them

on THEIR stance on that chosen issue of 'theirs' than give your own

opinion, thus showing your own mind and identity too). NO, you MUST

feel, think and vote the same way as they do on it even it's a non

issue or cause to you. Why, because they will say, " Why wouldn't you

agree with me?! We're all short, dwarfs, aren't we?! And shouldn't we

all think alike too!! But, what they are really saying, " Shouldn't we

all think as they have chosen for us to think!! " Because to me, in the

end, and again this is only MY opinion, 'isolationism' based purely on

the above things is purely to me, just another 'form of control' by

those few who sadly and truly may have had it done to them, they now

want to do it to the rest of us:(. And that is why a few of us

separate some from the others, it's all about control:(,

my friends, C-O-N-T-R-O-L.

~grady

PS: And what can we do to bust free from them and their way of

thinking, their self imposed 'isolation' of us if we don't meld into

their way of restrictive thinking, is to keep on thinking free:), and

to remember this, a rhyming quote of mine, and yes, you can make up

your own if you sooo want!:P What, do I look like I own you!! Am I

your captor now?! lol I wish!!! haha;) No, I still want everyone to be

themselves, even if its in STARK contrast to me. Why, I realize and

accept the following,

" Though we may be the same inches from the ground,

our minds/hearts/conditions/stances/personalities

are as many as the stars that can be found. "

And I wouldn't have it any other way:).

Because just like if I could make all dwarfs one condition, I still

wouldn't, as it's FROM our MANY conditions that make us ALL great

as well:). As each condition brings to our ONE table of ALL dwarfs

collectively, that is, THEIR OWN each unique experience for us all

too:). So, if any want to sit apart from our one table based on

separatism, so be it too, as what we used to call their table when I

was young, The Children's Table. Thus, that table of 'theirs', will be

for those who want to still separate us all based on the above. Why,

because anyone who still does that is still that, a child, even though

they may be a full grown adult dwarf in 'appearance'. But, the key is

this, to never let the Children's Table control the Adult Table.

Unfortunately tho that has happened, but it must NO longer if we are

to be ONE of MANY:) and not one of one or of whatever one 'they' have

chosen for 'us' to be one of, which usually is themselves:(.

This is another tough one. Trying to

determine how LP's feel towards

each other, or the mainstream people.

   Your question:

" Do LP's feel differently about each other

based on what type of dwarfism the other has? "

You might get into a sort of degrees of dwarfism

theory or something. Maybe somebody who is

at university for their PHD in Psyc can research

and then write an article or book.  Then it can

be published. But I suspect, who in general

is going to read it and understand it? Somebody

might even break it down into a mathematical

formula or something. Yikes!

Maybe:

            your height X your mass

over:          your IQ                     = your what?

Back to your poll. In polling or asking people

whatever, you keep the question simple. But

then things get complicated. As in " how come "

" why " or " thats not fair " , or " things shouldnt

be like that " .

Then you get the probablies, maybes, assumings,

thats-what-I-heard-somewheres.  He said, She saids,

those are popular too.

We all have some intuition about others, what

they are like or whatever. An almost fool-proof

way to determine how another person or group

feels toward you is to watch their eyes! And

their facial expression. The eyes dont lie!

Some people dont like others, right from

the get-go, as they say. And then its a real

challenge for them to change their mind.

People who make up their mind, and wont

change then they " shun " others, or dont talk

or even look at them. For lots of reasons.

Oh, I hope with the inaguration of our

new president next week, things will change

for the better. Dont fight! Negotiate!

In my cartoon collection, there is a sketch

of a little dog, playing among the dandelions

in the back yard. With a smile on its face,

tongue hanging out, etc. The caption reads:

" Every species except humans realizes that

the main purpose of life is to enjoy it " .

Well thats about it and others.

Have a Nice Day!
