Hi Vicky,

Welcome. We are just about to travel ot Florida for our second visit to Growing Minds. I would love to hear more about the approaches that have worked for you and your family over the years. If you have time would you be able to give us a run down ? Both educational/ biomedical and any others.

Thanks,

Jane

HiI thought I should post a quick intro as the post about fillings was my first to this group. I recognise lots of names here from various boards over the last few years, lol. Special hi to Vicky *waves*!I'm mum to an eight year old boy with ASD, though he's nearly falling off the top of the spectrum now. He's always ben high functioning and atypical, I haven't had to do that much biomed with him, mainly enzymes and homeopathy (both have worked wodners for him!) We also went to Growing Minds last year and will be finishing with them in June - this has also been fantastic for us all. The issues he has now are more to do with social and emotional immaturity than really specific to ASD so we are trying to help him catch up. There doesn't feel a great deal of urgency about this as he is very happy and balanced and doing well in mainstream school (a far cry from three and a half years ago!) but I want to get him a far as possible out of any difficulties before he goes to secondary school (currently in year four)About all there is to say about us I think!

Hi

I think you might end up teaching more than learning! We're taking

Tom to Growing Minds in July. He's non verbal but soooo close to

speaking - i.e. he's using syllables and sounds and emphasis but

just not recognisable as words. Tom is 7, profound regressive

autism - i.e. fine until 2 and a half then BOOM. Really looking

forward to GM (and Jane has been a wealth of info) - any more info

you don't mind sending me here or off list (not strictly biomedical

of course) very very welcome

Hi everyone,

I'm Leigh from UK. I'm 30 and suffered with CFS, depression + fibro to some

degree since around 1997. About 7 years ago things started to deteriorate and

have been on a downwards cycle ever since. Following a bad pregnancy and then

having to have my tonsils out due to chronic tonsillitis things spiralled lower

and lower at great speed. I was officially diagnosed almost 3 years ago.

I am registered disabled and am in the process of being terminated from my job

as apparently they take issue with less than 50% attendance followed by a year

on the sick!!! LOL. I'm fighting our government at the moment as they say that I

am fit enough to work in some form and I disagree.

I've been married 7 years to a wonderful man who luckily for me is very helpful

around the house and 95% of the time very understanding of my conditions. We

have a 3 year old son who although full of energy has grown up with me being ill

and is therefore very tolerant and has adapted well to what I can and can't do.

We try and do lots of things together that don't affect my mobility like crafts

and reading.

I've just been approved by my doctor today to try LDN and am also on 150mg

lyrica 2 x a day and cymbalta 30mg am and 60mg evening. Then I take diclofenac

sodium 3 x a day. I was taking tramadol or solpadol for breakthrough pain but

now can't take these with the LDN so will hopefully be managing without.
