Guest guest
Hi Folks, I'm new here and have tried LDN again recently after having tried it for a while about five years ago. When I took it back then it was in 3 mg. compounded capsules initially and later in 4.5 mg. capsules. I remember having the expected problems remaining asleep for the first week of taking it and then feeling very well and benefitting from it immensely afterward. That was THEN....this time I have tried twice to take it for up to five consecutive nights each time but end up feeling very drowsy and depressed, more and more, as the days progress. What I am doing differently this time is, instead of having the capsules compounded for me I am getting the 50 mg. Revia tablets and grinding them into a powder under a spoon and adding the powder to fifty mls. of distilled water. I keep this solution in the fridge after having given it a very good duration of shaking to mix it in quite well. I have been dosing it out with a graduated eye dropper for accuracy and I began, like before, starting off with 3 mg. (3 ml.) per night before bedtime, around 10 or 10:30 p.m. I shake the bottle well each time before each dose to make sure it hasn't settled in the bottle, which might cause innacurate dosage amounts. Because I did so well with LDN in the not-too-distant past it has seemed a little mysterious that I can't seem, so far at least, to get the correct response from it this time. The only two things that seem possible and logical (for me) for the change in its action this time vs. last time are: 1) This time by dosing it in a liquid form it is being assimilated into my brain more readily than if it were a capsule and could be leading me to experience an effect similar to that of taking a larger dose...let's say 12 mg., for argument's sake. The end result is that the endorphin blockade is continuing far beyond the few hours it normally does and extending well into the following day, even close to the following nighttime. This is one idea which seems possible but I see here that others are also taking it this way, without any depression being mentioned. (normally, I am not depressive or if I am am only slightly so) 2) The other possibility I considered is that I am now not metabolizing the drug as well as I once did due to my detox pathways being less efficient than they once were. I am not taking any grapefruit or grapefruit juice which might hinder the phase one pathways but...it just occurred to me that I have been taking grapefruit seed extract here and there...could this be causing the problem? Could the GSE be slowing down my phase one liver detox pathways, leading the LDN to stay in my system much longer than it would normally?? Or...could I have just experienced a slowing of my detox pathways, independent of the GSE, and therefore need to take the LDN at a much lower dose, such as some of you are doing, like 0.5 mg/night, for instance? Can someone shed some light here? I would greatly appreciate it if you could! Many thanks, in advance,
