I just read that alpha lipoic acid ALA is a good treatment for burning mouth syndrome.Several people recently have mentioned they or someone they know Barbara Lochner

"'barbara lochner'" <blochner2001>, low dose naltrexone

Barbara,

Even though antibiotics like minocycline or doxycycline have immunolodating properties, I don’t believe they would be considered an immunosuppressing drug such as Enbrel, etc…

I also believe Placquenil , an anti-malaria drug has been used for decades to successfully treat RA is also not considered an immunosupressing drug

Can anyone else confirm that Placquenil can be used with RA. It seems that antibiotics can since Dr Bahari uses AP with LDN for some of his RA patients where the combo works well. I know some RA folks due well with just LDN and some good herbals

Hope this helps

Pat

low dose naltrexone

Subject: [low dose naltrexone] re joint destruction & Rheumatoid Arthritis

After I was dx with RA I began to investigate alternatives to RA meds and never went on them. I was looking for a DR who did the Marshall Protocol - The Road Back Foundation, long term low dose antibiotics - when the DR said lets treat the adrenal first...

After I started LDN, my RA began to go away. At that time, my right thumb & index finger were locked, with the joint in my thumb protruding, and my left little finger had doubled in size. Ten months later my thumb and index finger are unlocked. The protrusion is down and so is the size of my little finger. I still have knobs on my wrists but I have lost 8 lbs on LDN and maybe that's why they still look big.

If those meds block your immune system you need to get off them. I think only one RA med does not block - and I don't remember what it is. Am sure others know.

Thanks ,

We've had a whirlwind month so I've just been reading the posts...

The immunologist recommended 1000 mg Vit D. so that's been added. "Flirting" with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for, say, 8 months now. Unfortunately, very tough to maintain for a teenager! Your discussion about the role of fats and oils on Candida is interesting. Favorite meal seams to be bacon and eggs so checked cholesterol and is fine. Did not start Flagyl and dropped the Cipro three weeks ago, and taking lots of probiotics (with HSOs) which has been VERY helpful. 4 weeks on LDN, marked improvement in arthritis pain. Seems to have picked up a virus (or two) and has been sick the last two weeks. Checked for Strep and thrush, but okay so far--just taking a long time to recover (also went out late too early and got sicker--again, attributed to "teenager" dilemma).

With being sick the last two weeks, just haven't been able to tell what effect the LDN is having on the Crohn's much yet. But I do see more energy in spite of the "flu". I wondered if this flu is, perhaps, a kind of 'healing crisis'?

Still questioning 6mp issue, but anemia continues to improve and am reluctant to 'jump off that cliff'.

I appreciate all the responses to my pregnancy story. This will be difficult for months to come, but will pass. I need to learn to make the most of the time that I will have to spend with my two wonderful boys, rather than feel depressed. Eventually.

Thanks

Kinga

have anybody read the results of the trial with ldn pubblished on

http://www3. interscience. wiley.com/ journal/12328991 2/abstract? CRETRY=1 & SRETRY=0.

considering that 8 weeks are nothing to performe a trial for ms based on the property to slow or stop progression, many neurologists here in italy use that documents to inform their patients that ldn is not a tratment to be considered to slow or stop the progression, and it is only usefull in case of p.p.ms.to fight simptoms.

i would like to know your point of view on this matter.

my best

emiliano
