Guest guest
I made a color copy of the LDN Homepage and gave it to my GP. Two weeks later (allowing time for him to read and digest the material) I called and he agreed that it's worth a try. I got a 5 months script, which was renewed when that expired. Since then I've made copies of other LDN material for him read. valhoenecke wrote: > Does anyone have any ideas on how I should introduce taking LDN to my > GP. Guest guest
Hi Val, Years ago there were 2 booklets specifically written for MSers in this situation, one for the doctor and one explaining how best to use it. I don't have MS so not sure where on the net they are now stored (if anywhere?) but others should know. One piece of advice I would strongly recommend after being on here for well over 6 years and hearing many stories of people having difficulties getting a prescription for LDN is DO NOT RUSH INTO IT!! Only go when you feel you know enough to present a decent case to your GP and be able to refute some of the plainly erroneous reasons some docs give for not prescribing it eg. some docs have claimed LDN is a narcotic, others that it is deadly (confusing it with a chemo drug with somewhat similar name) etc etc.. Your own GP is in most cases the one most likely to prescribe it for you so don't blow it by rushing into it unprepared!! If you do you'll then have to start on the doctor merry-go-round, running around trying to find someone to prescribe it, something that for most people is a real hassle!! How long have you had MS for? Surely even another week to "do it once, do it properly" isn't going to be life or death is it? Cheers, valhoenecke wrote: Does anyone have any ideas on how I should introduce taking LDN to my GP. I would like some information to take to him. I am seeing my GP because my neuro only prescribes heavy MS drugs (must get kick backs). Are there any examples written of how to approach a doctor regarding LDN? I feel I don't know enough about it myself and I won't introduce it correctly. Thanks Val
Guest guest
Good luck with it!! Unfortunately often when we hear that type of thing nothing ever eventuates - hopefully your GP is better!! Val Hoenecke wrote: Went to my GP today, I didn't ask him to write me a prescription immediatly, I left him some information and he seemed very interested. I told him that a lot of people are on this drug for cancer, crohns, asthma, diabetes, and of course MS. He said that all of these diseases do need a common treatment and he will definitely research. He also phoned our local pharmacist while I was there requesting any information that he could find for us. I am sure by the end of April that I will be on LDN. WOOT WOOT!!!!  Val
