Hi all,

I have a question...I am preparing to start LDN for crohn's for myself when my

prednisone is tapered sufficiently, but I have another question. I have an 11

year old daughter who has had type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes) for 2 1/2

years. She also has hypothyroid. I had seen a reference early on about LDN and

type 1, but it just referred to a facebook page. The past couple of days, I

have noticed some posts about LDN helping with vision and kidney function.

Those are two of the big things that degenerate over time with diabetes. I am

wondering if anyone out there might have any information at all about using LDN

to help with diabetes symptoms. Type 1 diabetes, as opposed to type 2 which is

what 95% of diabetics have, is an autoimmune disease.

Thanks in advance,

Becky

Hi Becky,

Mom son has been on LDN most of the time over the last 5 years or so, starting a

few years after he was diagnosed with Type 1. Although he doesn't think it does

anything for him, he is still on quite a low level of insulin. The way I look

at it is that it can't hurt and might very well help, so I would go for it for

your daughter.

My son has Type 1 diabetes, diagnosed at 13 and he is now 42. He takes good care

of himself. Since I take the LDN for my MS and my Mom takes it for her Crohn's,

and my grandmother had Rheumatoid Arthritis, we know that the family has a

tendency toward auto-immune diseases.

With the Juvenile Diabetes, the damage is already done to the cells of the

pancreas, so I don't expect any recovery from the diabetes, but the LDN does so

many things for general health, that it is an obvious choice for just about

anybody. There is no down side and contrary to much of what we read here, LOTS

of people start at a dose of 3mg with no real side effects. That is what he

takes and with twin daughters, has found that he has not caught any of the

colds, etc that they seem to be able to bring home from kindergarten :-) , and

his spring time allergies did not show up on time this year at all.

I hope this helps,

Francie
