Guest guest
Hi there. I have peripheral neuropathy (PN) pains (feet and hands both) as a result (just one of several symptoms) of having hyper-cortisolism (specifically a rare form of Pseudo Cushing's). I have been on LDN since mid December (very low dose initially, then titrated gradually up to where by mid February was at the current dosage of 4.5 mg). I cannot say that I have noticed any help in that regard so far... but then the damage began (most likely) in the late 1990s - definitely by mid 2002 when just a couple of initial symptoms started (including the PN) at a mild and sporadic level but then "exploded" (with a number of other symptoms) in May of 2004. So I have had neurological damage occurring since then (plus 7 years) so don't know if there would be a noticeable degree of improvement (from over seven years) and expect to see results that would be noticeable after just four months (and only a couple of those at the therapeutic dosage of 4.5 mg). My cortisol levels became normalized (for the first time since mid 2002) in August of 2009... and were normalized for the next 5 monthly tests --- but then shortly after starting LDN, two of my three monthly cortisol tests were back to reflecting elevated ranges (no where near as highly elevated as 2 - 3 years ago, but my most recent available test (from early March) did return with a result that was about the same as where it was around January of 2009. So I have a question as to whether or not the LDN was causing the rise in the monthly cortisol testing in those two out of three months (I won't have the test results back from the early April testing back until probably the end of this coming week). Or, if not, did, during the time frames where the cortisol levels naturally (through the Pseudo Cushing's condition) were elevated, did that elevated cortisol level(s) cause the LDN to work LESS successfully than it should otherwise be doing??? (I know for example the taking prednisone, cortisone, etc. is a "no-no" when taking LDN as it adversely affects the LDN's actions. Meanwhile, I find that a diluted mixture of DMSO (1 part to 10 parts distilled water) and Vitamin B-Complex along with extra Vitamin B5 "slightly" helps the PN..... for now. -- If you forward this correspondence, PLEASE delete ("cut") the forwarding history which includes my email address.
