Guest guest
I have been at 4.5 MG for 3 weeks, and experienced no insomnia...in fact the pharmacist told me to take it at bedtime, as it usually causes drowsiness....! Good Luck! Guest guest
Right on, why is anyone taking steroid's at all?? all they can do is harm you! All doc's know is to throw patient's on this awful drug, I know I've done it because I didn't know any other option back then. If I could give you some good advice, stay away, they have long term side affect's that you will have to live with. Guest guest
On Sunday morning at 1 a.m. I woke up where my right shoulder was paralyzed- couldn’t move it without excrutiating pain. Normally my Arthrotec works for joint pain every once in a while but I had to take 30 mg of prednisone before I was able to move my shoulder to do anything, even get back into bed From: LarryGC [mailto:larrygc@...] Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 7:44 PM faith3655@...; low dose naltrexone ; Pat Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] The right dose.. why is anyone playing with steroids while on LDN? Guest guest
How's this for a reason to take steroids: one must breathe to stay alive! I realize there are many on the list who are VERY anti-steroid, and that is your choice. However, there are also those of us with asthma who simply cannot avoid the occasional steroid burst. Yes, I know there are many natural remedies one can continue to add to their daily regimen, but those don't always work, and there are a lot of people who choose to use their nebulizer and/or albuterol inhaler (again, along with the occasional burst of steroids) -- goes back to the " breathe to stay alive " premise. I am truly not meaning this as a put-down to those who do not take any prescription medications for any reason at all. I just ask that they understand that there are those of us who aren't in that category. Myself, I take as many natural health remedies as I feel is prudent. Not all " natural " health remedies are safe either, especially when you are mixing them with tons of other remedies. Natural or not, too many can put stress on your liver and/or kidneys. And yes -- it's just my opinion that one can go overboard on natural remedies just as one can go overboard on prescription medications. But perhaps instead of slamming those of us who must take steroids on occasion, you could point us in the direction of a practitioner who may be able to help us with some of those other ailments. I would LOVE to not have to take antidepressants, for example. But even though I've read tons of books about healing your depression and/or anxiety without the aid of prescription drugs or even talk therapy, that simply does not work for me. So, instead of committing suicide, I choose to take prescription medications. Not as many as I used to -- my family doc isn't a fan of being on a lot of prescription meds, nor am I -- but they are still necessary for ME to stay alive. Truly -- I am very happy for those of you who can live your lives without taking any prescription meds, and not put any organ systems in jeopardy by taking too many, or the wrong mixture of natural remedies. But please know that for one reason or another, some of us just need a little bit of both worlds. Guest guest
I totally agree about NOT taking steroids!!! they are nasty drugs, and have side effects that last and continue to give you problems long after you have stopped...of course I too was fooled into taking them because the pain from RA was so bad,I wanted relief, and could find nothing back then, I was overwelmed, and took their drugs! but if you have access to LDN please try it, virtually no side effects! except possibly some dreams and a little lack of sleep for awhile, I had dreams and still do but I rather enjoy them, and think of them as positive, as the relief I get from LDN is so great, I will never stop, my RA is so much better its a miracle ....I searched and searched and finally found the LDN...along with diet control and supplements...never did drink alcohol so don't have to bother with that.... all the meds they have for auto-immune have bad side effects and cause other problems in the body, main thing is try to get immune system in a strong state by diet and supplements, and see if your allergic to gluten or dairy or night shade vegtables if you have RA many things to consider but well worth the look if you are in pain kaaren
Guest guest
And don't I wish I could be off it, too. However, my adrenals are pretty much shot and have been weak all my life. So I take hydrocortisone in doses that my body would make, if it could, but it can't. I would much prefer not to take it but there's no other solution. I hope over time LDN will improve enough other things that my adrenals can improve as well but it may be they are totally gone. So, just as prefers to breathe, I prefer to stay alive and having a little energy. Same deal with thyroid. I need my replacement doses. Guest guest
I agree with the both of you - you gotta do what works for you. If other people have better suggestions, isn't this the reason for this blog - to get other ideas and try them and possibly help yourself, but if those other things don't work, I think that you need to take what works and keep on trying to do the best you can do.
