Pam, I'm so sorry you won't be there. I really wanted to see your

skinny body! :) Gee, that sounded bad LOL!

I think of you often. Hope we can connect sometime soon!

Love,

Amy.

1 Year Anniversary

Dear Folks,

Ta-da! I've made it one year. One year ago I weighed 263 lbs; now

I weigh 156. I've lost 107 of the 108 lbs of excess weight -- over

99%. One year ago I wore pants with a 50 " waist; now I wear pants

with a 31 " waist. One year ago my shirts with a 17 " inch collar

would split when I sat down; now I wear shirts with a 14 1/2 "

collar, or size Extra Small or Small in the shops.

One year ago my cholesterol was 270; now my cholesterol is 206. One

year ago my blood pressure was 130/90; now my blood pressure is

110/62.

I have much to be thankful for, and Dr. R. and his skill is at the

top of the list.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Jon,

What a wonderful post. Congradulations on your year anniversary. Happy

for you and you sound so happy. Hope I can post good news soon my one year

will be coming up in Jan. By then I hope I will make the 100 mark at least

and my life will start to go back to a little bit more normal. So far it has

been one thing after another, hoping the new year will start off good, I

feel dead inside since Vinnie died and this passed few weeks with his brother

being so bad and then dying too, it has been a little too much for us all to

bear. So glad for you.

Hello everyone , Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving . Nov 20th was my 1

year anniversary for my MGB . Where did the year go ... It seems the year

went away as fast as the pounds did . I feel great . I've had no problems at

all . I have gone from a size 22 /24 to a size 4/6 in a years time . I have

gone from 225 pounds 1 year ago to 115 pounds .

So , I have a lot to be thankful for this year . A new me , that is healthy

, happy , and I feel 20 years younger . I will be 46 on my Birthday next

month , But I feel as if I will be 26 . Thank you Dr.R .

I hope and pray that everyone that has had the MGB , or for everyone that

plans to have the MGB will have the wonderful success that I have had . My

PCP said he did not want me to loss any more weight . I did not ever think I

would hear those words . My advice to everyone is ,just do what Dr.R tells

you to do . I have followed his directions to the " t " and I know that is why

everything has gone so well for me . I could never thank Dr. R enough . My

wish is that each and everyone of you have a very happy Holiday Season .

I stayed at 120 for a long time then last week I lost 5 pounds so now I am

at 115 . I eat what I want when I want it . I just eat a little at a time .

My PCP wants me to eat more . He does not want me to loss anymore weight . I

do not think I eat often enough , so I am trying to do better . But I feel

great and I want to stay healthy , so I will try to eat more . I do go to

the YMCA to work out at least 2 or 3 times a week . And that really helps .

I do not have that saggy skin , My PCP is surprise how well my skin has

shrunk with the rest of me . How about you a , have you had the MGM yet

? And , if so how are you doing ?

Hi Debi!

What a wonderful one year anniversary update! You know, it's

funny. Until you mentioned it, it didn't occur to me that people

weren't looking me in the eye before surgery. I did notice that

people are smiling at me more often now, but I didn't realize more

people were simply acknowleding me than ever did before. It's kinda

cool and sort of intimidating at the same time. Weird how we react

to those little changes as we lose weight.

Anyhoo, I'm so happy for your new happy healthy life!

Hugs!

Star,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful life changing story with all of us.

Upon meeting you for the first time when I had my MGB I knew that God has

special blessings in store for you. It is such a joy to hear about your weight

loss, your personal growth, your happiness, and know personally, how much joy

and

happiness you bring to so many others. Thank you for being an inspiration

Today is my 1 year anniversary for taking Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) for my fibromyalgia. What an interesting year it has been. As we all do, I started out with high hopes. I started out at 4.5 mg LDN at bedtime and was one of the fortunate ones who didn't have any side effects. About 6 months previously, I'd had a sleep study done that showed that I was getting zero REM sleep. After a few days I realized I was dreaming again. I also started to feel as though I had more energy.

It took about a week and a half to notice that my pain wasn't as severe, but that seemed to vary a lot in the next six months. I started out with a daily pain level of 6-8 on a scale of 10. That was with taking Tylenol Arthritis (the only pain drug that didn't cause me stomach upset or other problems) around the clock. Gradually as my pain lessened I noticed I was forgetting to take a dose here and there. Now I rarely take anything and my pain levels average 0-3. I then noticed that I didn't seem to need to take my Mirapex for my restless legs syndrome as much. I started cutting back on it until now I take 1/4 of what I did before. Since I was feeling better, I decided to see if I could cut back on my anti-depressant too. I gradually cut back on it until I wasn't taking or needing to take it any more.

At around the second month, I caught (or my body recognized) a severe virus. I was really sick, but for only 4 days. Usually I would end up in the doctor's office or even the hospital, but even though my husband kept telling me I should see the doctor, I kept saying I didn't feel that bad yet. For the first time in years I didn't need an antibiotic but fought off an infection myself. At around the 8th month I did get a bladder infection for which I did take a dose of antibiotics, though. Otherwise I haven't really been sick since. Very unusual for me to go that long without being sick with something.

A year ago, I was in bed 16-18 hours a day. I had to force myself to get up and just do the basics of life. Now, I'm cooking again for my husband. I can vacuum the floors again. I've even applied for a job. I can't believe what a difference a year has made. I want to thank Stanford University for doing a trial of LDN for people with fibromyalgia and Crystal (Angelindisguise) for mentioning it on the Restless Legs Syndrome group. I also want to thank all the wonderful people that I've met along the way in my journey to learn more about LDN and help others learn about it too.

Hopefully, my example will help others get some real relief from fibromyalgia pain as well.
