Guest guest Posted July 6, 2002 Report Share Posted July 6, 2002 Pretty much the standard dosage for IV Rocephin given by everything I have read and learned from my doctors is a minimum of 2grams/1X/daily up to 4 grams/1X/daily. Since I weigh 215 pounds, 3 grams makes more sense to me. I even had one LLMD tell me that the Rocephin pharmaceutical rep tell him that the body will not absorb over 4 grams a day anyway, so it is pointless to take more than 4 grams a day. Also, possibly dangerous to yourself as you mentioned. There HAS to be a mistake. 2G per 24 hours is > the MAXIMUM recommended dose ofRocephin, and itmay be divided into 4 doses of > 500 mg.......but 4 doses of2G would be equal to 8000mg or 8grams in one day!
