What a shame he's looking for excuses not to try something that may help you get well!! Does he get a kickback on Rx for other drugs? Reminds me of a greeting card I just rec'd from a client. On the front is a photo of 5 doctors, and it says, "Four out of five doctors want you to get well immediately." Then you open it up and inside it says, "The fifth one thinks you still have a few bucks left."

My friend B. who has had Crohn's for many years recently started on LDN at my suggestion. We have the same doc so getting a Rx was not a problem. He told me that he is now free of pain for the first time in years, in fact he couldn't recall how long it had been since he was pain free.

Don't give up. Tell your doctor to read the naltrexone site, www.low dose naltrexone.org and if he refuses to help you, fire him and find someone who is interested in helping you get well. We just have to let the docs know that we, not they, are in charge of our health care. There is no excuse for doctors who conspire to keep a patient sick, or at the very least refuse to educate themselves and choose to stay ignorant.

Just my 2 cents. Too political? Sorry.

I brought to my doctor printed article from Journal of Gastroenterology by dr.J.. It worked. He got interested, kept the article and gave me prescription. Do not just mention internet site, doctor is not going to look for it. Bring printed materials preferably from reliable medical source.

Hi ,

Replying to your question about being "too political." I'm new to the group & know it's not for long rants. But all of us who need anything beyond "standard of care," are truly fighting powerful economic & political forces shaping medicine ever more completely. One-to-one, we often face docs who either have no interest, or feel they have no ability, to do anything besides what's routine. So, while the science of LDN, and comparing individual reactions is important, anything practical about dealing with doc/bureaucracy is on topic. The minute you aren't willing to let your own personal body/life be passively processed through the bureaucracy, you learn quickly that "the personal is the political."

Send me email. There is one main out (out of Penn State), and one short

communication on a pediatric case of Crohn's that is being treated successfully

with naltrexone. I have both.

You can get the pediatric naltrexone one from PubMed:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20014017?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.P\

ubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum & ordinalpos=1

Click on the " Full Text Online " button in the upper right. The other paper is

referenced here:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17222320?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.P\

ubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum & ordinalpos=2

In fact, just printing the reference may be enough for your doc- maybe not.
