Have you ever been tested for celiac disease? I had severe fibromyalgia, abdominal pain and my stomach would bloat out as if I were expecting. A lot of other problems. Once I quit eating wheat, my stomach never bloated like that again and the pain and fibro got much better. Since adding LDN, I feel 100% better now.

Celiac or gluten intolerance/sensitivity has also been linked with reproductive problems and pco as well:

"The symptoms of celiac disease can vary significantly from person to person. This is part of the reason the diagnosis is frequently delayed. For example, one person may have constipation, a second may have diarrhea, and a third may have no irregularity in stools."

A partial listing of gastrointestinal symptoms:

Abdominal pain Abdominal distention, bloating, gas, indigestion Constipation Decreased appetite (may also be increased or unchanged) Diarrhea, chronic or occasional Lactose intolerance (common upon diagnosis, usually goes away following treatment) Nausea and vomiting Stools that float, are foul smelling, bloody, or “fatty†Unexplained weight loss (although people can be overweight or of normal weight upon diagnosis)

A partial listing of nonintestinal symptoms:

Anemia (low blood count) Bone and joint pain Bone disease (osteoporosis, kyphoscoliosis, fracture) Breathlessness (due to anemia) Bruising easily Dental enamel defects and discoloration Depression Fatigue Growth delay in children Hair loss Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) Irritability and behavioral changes Malnutrition Mouth ulcers Muscle cramps Nosebleed Seizures Short stature, unexplained Skin disorders (dermatitis herpetiformis) Swelling, general or abdominal Vitamin or mineral deficiency, single or multiple nutrient (for example, iron, folate, vitamin K)

There are numerous diseases and conditions associated with celiac disease, including:

Anemia Autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus Certain types of intestinal cancer Dermatitis herpetiformis Down syndrome Lactose intolerance Miscarriage or unexplained infertility Neurological conditions Osteoporosis or osteopenia Thyroid disease Type 1 diabetes

Ask you doctor to do a celiac panel, or give him this:

Which is the correct Screening Test?

Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG-IgA) -- A screening test is commonly used when an individual is in a risk group for Celiac Disease, whether or not he/she has symptoms. This test is usually the one offered for Celiac screening events, as it is the most sensitive test available.

Other Tests

Total Serum IgA -- This one tests for IgA deficiency, a condition which can affect the accuracy of an antibody test)

Anti-endomysial antibody test (EMA-IgA) -- EMA-IgA are very specific for Celiac Disease but they are not as sensitive as the tTG-IgA.

HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 gene tests -- The "gene tests" are not antibodies. They can be used to exclude Celiac Disease (if negative) in doubtful cases.

Note:

Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA-IgG and AGA-IgA) are no longer used to test for Celiac Disease due to a low level of accuracy in people who have not yet been diagnosed.

LDN will probably help you as it has helped many here with fibromyalgia and u/c (if that is what you have). Also, many have found that a gluten-free diet or SCD (specific carbohydrate diet) help a lot on their own, as well as combining LDN with the diet.

Good luck!

I'm a 34 yr old f with a two year old. I have always had reproductive issues including a myomectomy for removal of uterine tumors, polycystic ovary disease, fibromyalgia, herniated discs, I could go on. Right now I am experiencing severe abdomenal pain, every single thing that I eat makes me sick, so I go days and days without eating. My abdomen swells 3 to 4 times normal size, very painful. Digesting anything kills me, I can feel everything digest. I drink vitamin water, water, and occasional smoothies (they often make me sick) I'm nauseated all of the time and very fatigued from not eating. I was told by a Dr at one time I had ulcerative colitis then years later he told me he never told me that, although I was hospitalized for it for a week. I'm in dyer need of help and there is a pain Dr here that really likes to use this with patients and I wondered if anyone could help me make up my mind? Thank you so much.
