Sounds like it to me. MIne test came up neg too. You need to find a lyme

literate dr before it progresses.

[ ] Do I have it?

I went in to the doctors for what I thought might be ring-worm on my

leg. She diagnosed it as possible Lyme disease. She started me on

anti-biotics and sent out for blood work. The results of the blood

test came out Equivocal, not positive or negative. She has taken me

off of antibiotics. I have all the classic symptoms. I have been

going to the doctors for over a year and a half for everything

including: rashes, extreame sleepiness, anxiety, sore joints,

trouble sleeping, sweats and fever. I even think I lost my job

because of my condition (lack of energy) I live in Florida and

really don't think the doctors know much about this disease. I am a

single parent raising two girls and I am currently attending college

to become a computer programmer.

Hi, : I'm not a doctor, either, but I think that when you set off to

find a doctor to look at what sounds like a text-book bullseye (Lyme) rash,

I would STRONGLY recommend that you see what we refer to as a Lyme Literate

Medical Doctor or LLMD. Your average general practitioner is usually

woefully undereducated about just how serious this infection can be, and how

quickly it can invade nerve and brain tissue. There are a number of people

on the various Lyme lists who were treated w/Doxycycline immediately

following a bite, and they've still ended up very, very sick later on, many

times for years. Please spare yourself what so many of us have suffered

through, and go to a physician knowledgeable about Lyme right from the

beginning. I suspect that you will probably be put on a protocol that

rotates through a number of different antibiotics in order to kill the lyme

bacterium in its various forms (it changes once in the body in order to

evade the immune system). A good web site to check out for the treatment

protocol is http://www.ilads.org/ . Hopefully someone else on the list

will be able to suggest where you might look to find a LLMD in your area.

Good Luck, and Congratulations on being bright enough to read up before

going to the doctor! You've probably just saved yourself years of

floundering around with a wicked assortment of bewildering symptoms,

frustrated and sicker than a dog! Again, Good Luck! PS There is a lot

of support here and on other Lyme lists; we'd love to know how you're doing,

so check back in and let us know if you'd like!

Should I be worried?

Take a picture of the bite...if it changes size, shape color, take more

pictures.......ALWAYS.....document...using a ruler and a date.

Also start keeping a log of any symptoms that may come up.. Sometimes it

takes 30 days or more for symptoms to show up.

WERE YOU BITTEN IN THE CA SIERRA FOOTHILLS? IT REALLY DOES NOT MATTER,

BUT THAT AREA IN CA IS A HOT SPOT FOR LYME. A LYME TEST AT THIS TIME

WOULD MOST LIKELY PROVE NEGATIVE SINCE THE BITE IS RECENT. I WOULD

STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GET ON PROPHYLACTIC ANTIBIOTICS JUST IN CASE. THE

BACTERIA MOVES FAST AND CAN ENTER THE BRAIN WITH IN A WEEK OR TWO. BE

AWARE OF FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AND GET YOUR DR TO GIVE YOU A CLINICAL

DIAG. DO BLOOD TESTS IN A FEW WEEKS WHEN THE LYME ANTIBODIES ARE MORE

LIKELY TO SHOW A POSITIVE. THE SOONER YOU TREAT LYME THE SOONER YOU

WILL RECOVER, THE LONGER YOU WAIT, THE MORE TROUBLE YOU WILL BE IN. i

WOULD BE VERY CONCERNED IF I WERE YOU, AND I WARN YOU DRS WILL TELL

YOU, YOU DON'T HAVE LYME, OR THE ODDS ARE LOW FOR LYME. THEY ARE NON

EDUCATED AND ARE THE # 1 REASON SO MANY GET REAL SICK. GET ON

ANTIBIOTICS ASAP!! STAY ON THEM FOR ONE MONTH IF YOU CAN, IT IS STILL

EARLY!

Thank's to those of you who responded to my question.

Reading the various lists and websites is depressing. I had no idea

Lyme Disease was so horrible and that the medical community so

inadequate at dealing with it. Although not surprised about the medical

communities lack of cohesive treatment. I have a friend who was

diagnosed with Hep C a few years back....The " specialist " pretty much

told him, we won't do anything for you until you're really sick and we

can put you on a chemo protocol. Mind boggling that people can have

face transplants but there is no cure or treatment for so many other

things that can be totally debilitating. And I could go on and on about

how this country does so little in the way of preventive medicine but

I'll spare you.

I'm fearful for myself and sorry for those of you who have to deal with

this on a daily basis.

I'm without medical insurance so I've become fairly adapt and tapping

into other healing modalities.

We have antibiotics so I started taking amoxicilina and various

homeopathic and herbal remedies right away. I see massage therapist who

is also a BioGenesis practitioner for an on going physical problem and

she worked with me yesterday. Almost immediately the redness and

itching lessened. So maybe I've dodged the bullet. The bite site is

still red but not as bright and not bigger, the itch is almost gone.

I appreciate you're all here and so willing to share your knowledge and

experiences...You've certainly made me fully aware that this is nothing

to take lightly.

peace and light...julie

Yes, you should be worried. Do you still have the tick? If you do,

it can be tested for Lyme. Regardless, it sounds like you've got the

classic bullseye rash. Get in to see a doctor ASAP!

Actually knowing where you were bitten can be helpful to your LLMD.

LLMD's know what co-infections are in what geographic area's. So if

you can reasonably tell where you were bitten it will help your LLMD

decide if you might possibly have a co-infections even if the tests

for co-infections might come back negative.

It's just another data point LLMD's to use to help treat us!

Be well,
