My ob/gyn tried to tell me I could die and then gave me birth control pills saying it they would help me stop. Well they slowed me down all right and kept me spotting a whole month. I went and had a pap smear and everything was fine he said so since then I just load up with a tampon and thick pad and change about every 2 to 3 hours. I figure if its going to get me then let it be untill I fall over. The doc said the birth control pills had the hormone I was missing is why he gave them to me. I frankly am sick of dealing with everything at times and just try to ignore it all as much as possible. After what I have been through with the lyme and dumb docs around here I would rather take my chances than let them screw me up and get paid for doing it. Guest guest
Mine are every other month,, and the bleeding is heavy heavy heavy, my blood pressure is always low and worse when i get my cycle..stops and starts draging it out to 10 days, used to be 3 days light and gone.. now it just should go completely away, I am old enough, I am fixed, I don't need to deal with this.. YUCK I miscarried 2 times, had 1 at 4 months which stopped growing at 2 months taken..but had 3 full terms in there some how.. I can relate to issues like this and have had my fill of it all...hope that helps.. if you call it that Wonder if anyone can shed some light on this for me... Guest guest
You may need extra iron. I take iron and folic acid and flax seed oil. I still have bad periods but I am not stuck in bed anymore. These three vitamins have helped me. Lynnelle
Guest guest
Funny but my iron levels are always on the higher, opposed to the lower side, even in pregnancy which always baffled DUCKS...I might look at the flax seed oil but not sure about that either..everyone is different,, I look at things this way: until I get real facts like my levels are off somewhere I don't want to start adding things in to rule out problems I might not have.. like working anything, you don't go throwing all these new parts in if you don't need them.. it can place stress on some of the parts you didn't replace and cause a major problem. then you have to start all over from scratch and figure what you did to create a new problem you didn't have to begin with. I like the process of elimination much better: start off slow and work through the problem with deductive reasoning... Not everyone does this but it always works for me. I found when I was younger I used to be impulsive and get into big trouble by jumping on something,, I have learned to pick through things and get my facts before I jump on things,, cost less in the end..... Guest guest
I've had really painful menstruations ever since I first got my period. I'm 21 now, and even on birth control pills (used to control hormone levels...which I'm assuming mine are pretty wacky) I'm still having real heavy flows that last 6-7 days a month. I have severe pain in the abdominal region, low blood pressure, loss of appetite, and feel like passing out. In fact, once in high school I did pass out for a few seconds because the pain was overwhelming and blood pressure was probally low. I ended up in the ER and my doc started me on a low dose of horomone tablets...but if I ever missed a day my period would come and occasionally had bleed throughs and the pain was the same. So the prescription was bumped up...no more bleed throughs but I still have to make sure not to miss a day and the pain is really excrutiating. I really feel for you...sometimes I wish I could just trade in my uterus! Bridget in MN
Guest guest
Watch the hormone pills,, I was on " therapy " for years: cycrin was the only thing that helped me from the heavy, irregular bleeding, and believe me they tried everything, most would cause me to bleed more! I found through trial and error, once I bled for 7 weeks straight they told me to continue the treatment my iron count was fine. I walked out of there and threw the pills in the garbage and the next day the bleeding stopped.. I finally found a doctor who would try different things,, she put me on Prozac to help my " events " and cycrin which was my savior of the bleeding and pains,, after 4 years on this, I was finally regular and stopped 2 years later I started to have the heavy bleeding again,, I was too old to start the cycrin again.. ( so now I just cringe the week before and grit my teeth till it's over...permanently over.. I have been " fixed " for 6 years and anxious to be rid of my torture... Do look into the cycrin, it took me many years to find something that worked this well.. I do know everyone is different and it may not work for you, but the dose has to be right or it won't. They kept increasing the doses and making them stronger, which would make me bleed more,, so something was wrong with their logic there! USUALLY IS! [ ] Re: Females and Menstrual Problems? Guest guest
I have also had this problem much of my life, and it completely disappeared when I was on heparin treatment for hypercoagulation. When my hypercoagulation came back, the pain and low blood pressure came back. I suspect many people suffer from hypercoagulation and don't know it, and doctors certainly don't know to suspect this if you present with that type of problem. Many people have genetics that lend themselves to hypercoagulation (especially northern european descents.) Infection can also trigger it. The leader in this theory was a researcher called Berg at Hemex (Hemex.com) who found on accident that many people with CFS had hypercoagulation. He actually was studying infertility which is caused by the same thing. You might be able to get an ob/gyn to prescribe heparin injections. Some of them are aware that it causes infertility and are used to giving it for that. Thanks, Doris ----- Original Message ----- From: Bridget I've had really painful menstruations ever since I first got my period.
Guest guest
Hi Lyme confused Can I make a small suggestion.? GEt yourself tested for gluten sensitivity and coeliac disease. I had the same problems. Lyme disease triggers these conditions and all sorts of bad things happen from there. Malabsorption from gluten intolerance causes iron levels to drop leading to most of the symptoms you describe and many more. Dona [ ] Females and Menstrual Problems?
