Guest guest Posted March 20, 2010 Report Share Posted March 20, 2010 LDN Website Update - March 20, 2010 www.low dose naltrexone.org / www.ldninfo.org LATEST NEWS AS OF MARCH 2010 [Note: for the complete version of this information, with active links, please visit http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/ldn_latest_news.htm ] Successful LDN for MS Trial Published by UCSF Physicians Bruce Cree, MD and co-researchers at the Multiple Sclerosis Center at University of California, San Francisco, published their study " Pilot Trial 0f Low Dose Naltrexone and Quality of Life in MS " in the online journal of the ls of Neurology on February 19, 2010. Some 80 patients with MS were involved in this double-blind, " randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover-design study of the effects of low dose naltrexone on quality of life as measured by the multiple sclerosis quality of life inventory. " Each subject received either LDN 4.5 mg nightly or a placebo for 8 weeks, followed by one week without either, and then a further 8 weeks on the the alternate capsule. The results revealed that LDN use led to " significant improvement " in a series of mental health quality of life measures within two months. The authors reported that the medication was " well tolerated and serious adverse events did not occur " , and that they felt " [f]urther studies with LDN in MS are warranted. Phase II of LDN for Crohn's Complete; Early Results in May Dr. Jill , Professor of Gastroenterology at Pennsylvania State University's College of Medicine, has now completed her NIH-supported Phase II study of LDN for Crohn's disease, which involved 40 adults, and is readying it for publication. Dr. intends to make the general outcomes known in an oral presentation during the first week in May 2010 at the Digestive Disease Week meetings at the New Orleans Convention Center. She remains very optimistic about the usefulness of LDN for inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease. (See Clinical Trials for LDN / In Progress.)
