Re: Thyroid..I struggled for a lot of years with a sluggish thyroid and was not dx'd and not treated. Finally got on Armour at age 63 and have learned so much from the folks at: realthyroidhelp.com

All the info over there is based on the book: Stop The Thyroid Maddness.

To be optimal re: thyroid hormone in the body our THS needs to be very very low on the lab range. Almost suppressed. Mine is now .040.

And Free T3 and Free T4's need to at the high end of the labs. Mine are there NOW taking 3 grains of Armour/NT combo. I'm 71 and finally am pretty much optimized. And finally feeling GOOD. I haven't lowered my thyroid med since on LDN 2mg for almost 4 months.

I'm certainly not a doc, but a doc would have NEVER gotten me here.

PS: I have copies of all my labs from the last 10+ yrs.

Mo-

It has been my experience that those taking Armour tend to have more thyroid problems on LDN.

You can't assume right away that it is your thyroid, there are other instances that can trigger the same type of symptoms...have you had any testing to be sure? Deficiencies in some vitamins and minerals can cause a similar reaction. If the bases for your illness is a complex pathogen infection, and you have not been on an effective protocol for it or them, then that could be what has triggered your symptoms.

You need a doctor to help you with this, not lay people. If it is your thyroid you need a test to show it, and by how much. If you are the type of low thyroid that has not been reflected in testing, since testing is not the greatest, you still need a doctor to carefully figure this out for you.

It is very unwise to take time to figure this out, especially from people who have the best intentions, but are not doctors.

Take care-

Never say never, Joyce. LOL

After several years of suffering, a doc finally figured out my thyroid through different thyroid panel tests that aren't usually used by doctors, and he did not go by the values the labs use. I found a Harvard/Univ of Penn trained doctor/researcher whose passion is the thyroid www.thyroidpower.com . He put me on Armour and I was on it for 2 years, then it stopped working. I am on Synthroid and it has worked well for me for many years.

Glad it worked out well for you, Joyce. I still would not recommend Mo to handle this herself because of the dangers.

Hopefully, by reading our experiences Mo will be able to decide where to go from here.

Thanks-
