Guest guest
I will post some research, but the American Diabetic Association is the wrong place to start. They will advocate grains and carbohydrates and the glucose will be higher and higher. All diabetes is caused by a diet high in carbs and sugars, so this program can reverse it, particularly because of the high " good " fats. Guest guest
Thanks, Phyllis. I realize that ADA will be advocating things that I don't necessarily agree with anymore, with all the reading and learning I've been doing this year thanks to this group. However, I thought it might be a good starting point to find out SOMETHING about the disease, since I didn't really know much about Type 1. However, their website is not nearly as informative, or as well-designed, as I would have hoped. andra > > I will post some research, but the American Diabetic Association is > the wrong place to start. Guest guest
Hi Bee, Well he was always a great lover of carbs... not sweet stuff, per se, because he was never really into candy or traditional 'junk.' But he loved bagels and things like that... He also went through a phase where he would eat sticks of butter... plain... LOL. In all the literature it suggests that while type 2 is susceptible to dietary changes, type 1 is not; the difference being that in type 1 the body doesn't produce enough insulin and that this is considered a life-long fact. I know that my aunt and that whole branch of the family believe very strongly in typical western medicine, so any other information needs to be brought to them gradually, since these beliefs are very ingrained. Thank you, andra > +++Hi andra. The reason this program works so well is because it improves digestion by taking enough Betaine hydrochloric acid, or good unpasteurized sauerkraut, so the contents of the stomach contain enough acid to trigger the pancreas to work properly. You should search for diabetes type 1 at www.mercola.com Bee
