Guest guest
Hi Just wanted to bring your attention to relatively new study about Folic Acid and Vitamin B12. It seems the same way folic acid supports fast growing cells of developing fetus , it supports fast growing cancer cells. http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=107743 A lot of us take vitamin B complex as a part or Dr.Berkson protocol. Most of b-complexes have at least 800mcg of folic acid, double of what is recomended for not pregnant adults. In addition a lot of food in USA fortified, adding even more. What actually need to be taken with ALA if I understand correctly is only one b-vitamin,Biotin which does not seem to be causing problem. May be we should just supplement with Biotin and treat the rest of b-vitamins like vitamin D. Check the level, if low supplement, if normal not supplement. Any thoughts about it? Guest guest
I guess I'm not convinced that the study is the be all and end all on the subject. The fine print there said that the rise in cancer was lung cancer, and that 94% of the people who got lung cancer were smokers or former smokers. Also, pointed out that lung cancer rates in the USA have decreased in the period following mandatory supplementation with folic acid. I would be interested to hear what you discover, . I have already been thinking that I'm getting more folic acid than I need because of the configuration of supplements I'm taking. But , the B's are known to work better together, in general, and because they are washed out of the body and not stored, they've been considered safe to supplement with, and important to supplement because it's virtually impossible to get enough B from the diet considering the levels of stress in today's society. -- At 08:11 PM 3/12/2010, you wrote: >Thanks for that, our oncologist has my wife on 5mg of Folic Acid as well, >so that's 5800mcg a day she is taking, I will be looking into that > > ><http://www.ldndatabase.com>www.ldndatabase.com > [low dose naltrexone] high doses of vitamin B12 and Folic Acid >increase risk of cancer > > > >Hi >Just wanted to bring your attention to relatively new study about Folic >Acid and Vitamin B12. Guest guest
This may be off-topic, but since you mentioned high doses of Vit B. I had my B6, B12 & folic acid levels checked. B12 & folic acid normal but B6 was double the top of the normal limit of 24; it was 48 so high. I did take am multi with food 1.2 hour before test since I was told I didn’t need to fast, so that may be why Vit b6 was so high. My multi has 2500% of RDA for B6. I was reading that high B6 can cause nerve issues? Is it even possible to have high B6 levels- I thought since water soluble it would be excreted daily? Maybe since I had just taken it before test; it had not be secreted yet?
