Barbara and Pat,

Its great to hear how much of your old RA

joint stuff has resolved after 10months of LDN. I think Ive rescued my fingers

from triggering by my use of LDN even though its now a year and a struggle to

dose right, and with ongoing inflammation.

Please consider taking this to the

rheumatoidarthritis-low dose naltrexone group as well , as it would add to the

ongoing debate.

By the way can we please be clear….as

far as I know it is Dr Berkson, not BIhari who has the significant experience

of ALA with

LDN and AP.

Cheers

Nuala

Barbara,

Even though antibiotics like minocycline or doxycycline have

immunolodating properties, I don’t believe they would be considered an

immunosuppressing drug such as Enbrel, etc…

I also believe Placquenil , an anti-malaria drug has been used for

decades to successfully treat RA is also not considered an immunosupressing drug

Can anyone else confirm that Placquenil can be used with RA. It

seems that antibiotics can since Dr Bahari uses AP with LDN for some of

his RA patients where the combo works well. I know some RA folks due well

with just LDN and some good herbals

Hope this helps

joint destruction & Rheumatoid Arthritis

After I was dx

with RA I began to investigate alternatives to RA meds and never went on

them. I was looking for a DR who did the Marshall Protocol - The Road

Back Foundation, long term low dose antibiotics - when the DR said lets

treat the adrenal first...

After I started

LDN, my RA began to go away. At that time, my right thumb & index

finger were locked, with the joint in my thumb protruding, and my left

little finger had doubled in size. Ten months later my thumb and index

finger are unlocked. The protrusion is down and so is the size of my

little finger. I still have knobs on my wrists but I have lost 8 lbs on

LDN and maybe that's why they still look big.

If those meds

block your immune system you need to get off them. I think only one RA

med does not block - and I don't remember what it is. Am sure others

know.

Please be sure to do your own research on the side effects of Plaquenil. Eye

problems are listed as a rare side effect, but it happened to my brother - even

with the routine visits to an ophthalmologist. I know if he had it to do over,

he never would have stayed on Plaq for so long.

I ditto that on Plaquenil. I am hoping if the LDN starts working

for me, I won’t have to go on Plaquenil. The antibiotic therapy on

doxycycline for 2 months now just doesn’t seem to be working, actually

making flaring worse. I am also going to add high dose fish oil to my supps. I

am also up to almost 5000 IU Vit D3

I believe the answer is yes. Based on what I've read on here, Plaquenil,

sulfasalazine, and low-dose prednisone (10 mg or less per day) can all be used

with LDN. Which is good, because it means one can wait for the LDN to start

working before trying to taper off of them.
