I was just diagnosed and best I can tell I got bit 6 weeks ago. I'm

feeling pretty sore with joint pain. My question is....I was just

put on doxy. Is 6 weeks early enough, or did I miss my opportunity

for a full recovery. Whats the typical outcome at this stage.

Thanks,

Chris

You are very lucky. You are in the early stage, and from all I understand

it should be easily cured.I would just be sure that you are on the doxy for a

longer period of time then for a normal infection.I bet you will feel much

better in a few days! Good luck, BK

steve

you are at an early stage and treatment should work with orals.

from my reading, my best advice is below.

perhaps this is the best start for early lyme treatment. to do it,

you are going to need and LLMD who will test and adjust for blood

levels. reviewing this, it seems obvious to me that -without blood

levels of abx- one would not be able to estimate dose.

Doxycycline-

Adults: 100 mg qid with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often

needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels. Not

for children or in pregnancy. If levels are too low at tolerated

doses, give parenterally.

treatment should continue past symptom free stage for at least two weeks.

The things to remember are: If you don't feel better after a month

or two, switch antibiotics. Don't let anyone tell you that you are

cured after a certain number of weeks (ie. six weeks) if you are

still sick. If your doctor is unwilling to treat, or you are not

getting better, consider seeing an LLMD (lyme litterate doctor),

people on this board can help you locate one in your area if there is

one. This may be a good idea anyway. If you do feel better and stop

the ABX, be on the lookout for returning symptoms down the road and

jump on it. There is no one treatment protocol cures all in this

disease.
