Guest guest
I think you're referring to whey protein isolate when you say " pure " . I take it every day as it's often included in cancer protocols since it's said to raise glutathionine levels, a powerful antioxidant. To answer your question, I remember checking on that question by online searches as to whether it can convert to morphine and found, as I recall, that the answer is " no " . It's the casein in milk and cheese that does (depending on the type of milk used), but it is not in whey protein. I'm sure someone will correct me if this is wrong. annambur wrote: > A few months ago on this site, I saw discussion regarding > dairy, especially bovine dairy. Guest guest
Help!! This is the first time I have ever heard about dairy turning into morphine. My diet is quite high in dairy including whey protein isolate, whole cow and goat milk, cottage cheese, homemade kefir, butter, and yogurt. I haven't read anything about LDN that said avoid dairy. LDN at 2 mg is working well for me and I will increase to 2.5 on March 1. I'd like more solid info on the morphine issue. If that's true, I shouldn't be in pain at all, given my intake of milk!! Guest guest
There is no such problem. Some people are avoiding dairy for various reasons. It has nothing to do with whether LDN works or not. Dairy is not restricted for use with LDN. If you are otherwise happy with your diet, don't worry about it. This idea that all these foods should be forbidden has nothing to do with LDN. It has to do with people trying to find further answers with their health. People are taking things a bit far here and alarming people unnecessarily. Some people are avoiding gluten, casein (milk products), etc. That is their choice and may be necessary to their healing, but it is not a rule for LDN use and those dietary restrictions are not universally appropriate. Plus, the statement that dairy turns into morphine is not even true. Some people thrive with dairy in their diets, others don't. Know thyself. There is nothing wrong with your continuing with your dairy in your diet if you are otherwise feeling good. no worries! -- At 05:05 AM 2/24/2010, you wrote: >Help!! Guest guest
Hi,Do you take LDN for MS? If so:Dr. Jelinek is a physician who has MS. He developed a good MS diet which has helped him and his patients immensely. It is somewhat like Dr. Swank's low fat MS diet. Dr. Swank allows non-fat milk products or no more than two servings of milk products containing 1% fat a day. He believes high saturated fat diets are HORRIBLE for MS patients. I must agree, as I have been mostly on his diet for 23 years and have done quite well with my MS. When I go off of the diet because I'm feeling so good and so "normal", I always have a relapse. FYI, Dr. Swank does allow gluten in the diet. His website is: http://www.swankmsdiet.org/Now back to Dr. Jelinek... he believes in cutting out all cows milk due to molecular mimicry. I copied the following information from his website: There has been long-standing opinion that cow’s milk consumption has a role to play in the development of MS. Recent high quality epidemiological work strongly reinforces those views.1,2 These researchers found a very high correlation between cow’s milk consumption and MS all around the world. Laboratory work from Germany and Canada now provides a possible explanation of why this may be so.3,4 A number of cow’s milk proteins have been shown to be targeted by the immune cells of people with MS. Further injecting them into experimental animals has caused lesions to appear in the central nervous system of the animals. Other researchers have demonstrated how certain proteins in cow’s milk mimic part of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein, the part of myelin thought to initiate the autoimmune reaction in MS.5 Here is his web address if you are interested in reading more: http://www.takingcontrolofmultiplesclerosis.org/index.php?mode=Cows_Milk_ConnectionDr. Jelinek also defends the eating of gluten through several interesting studies and continues to eat foods containing gluten in his MS diet.I know each person is different and you must find the diet that works the best for you. I eat a very low fat diet, I eat foods containing gluten and occasionally have skim milk or 1% ice cream/yogurt. I don't eat cheese. I think it's a good idea to avoid cow's milk or at least stick with non-fat milk products regardless of how milk interacts with LDN. It seems a diet high in dairy is not good regarding MS.AnitaOn Feb 24, 2010, at 6:05 AM, RemoteVwr@... wrote:Help!! This is the first time I have ever heard about dairy turning into morphine. Guest guest
You can make your own almond milk and put whatever you like in it for a sweetner.Let the almonds (whole or blanched) soak overnight in waterBlend 1 cup almonds with 3-4 cups of water (4 batches is almost 1 gallon) Strain the mixture through some cheese cloth or a sprout bag(optionally, I strain the mixture again through a metal coffee filter)Sometimes I don't add anything but I have added a little vanilla extract and stevia If you can get the almonds from a co-op it's cheaper than the pre packaged kindOn Thu, Feb 25, 2010 at 9:40 AM, <foxhillers@...> wrote: I use water as a substitute for white colored fluids. mjh ============================== Posted by: " " angelamartin@... Guest guest
I buy Blue Diamond's Almond Breeze (Unsweetened) Vanilla Flavor. I have not kept up with the dialogue on this topic, but if sugar is your concern....it has 0 grams of sugar. I purchase mine at Whole Foods and I have seen it at regular grocery stores, too.
