Geri,

Some of the exhaustion you feel may be due to your smoking. I have

emphysema from breathing second hand smoke and I feel exhausted very easily.

Maybe you should have some breathing tests.

,

I was run through a battery of respiratory tests at Scripps, including an

exercise test similar to the one they do for an EKG. Believe it or not,

after all the years of smoking, I rank up there with the non-smokers and I

always have in the past when I've had respiratory tests (numerous times

because of shortness of breath and leg weakness.) Scripps concluded that I

might have a heart problem and wanted me to have an angiogram since they

could find no other reason for the shortness of breath. I know it sounds

strange, but they've ruled out all respiratory problems. They've even

stopped nagging me to quit smoking (though it would make their little

doctor hearts go pitter pat if only I would) since they can't pin down a

problem caused by it. The possible heart abnormality showed up on a

thalium EKG they did, so it is something specific they are suspecting, not

a general lack of oxygen or circulatory problem due to smoking. That

leaves me with my only remaining vice intact for now.

Take care,

Geri

---Ditto on the sleep apnea/sleep study. I am a 43 year old

Diastrophic and your description of your day sounds like my life a little

more than 2 years ago. Same problem...sleepy, in one hour drives had to stop

half way to take a nap, would lay on couch in afternoon to watch TV and was

out for 4 hours. Had a sleep study and found that I had severe apnea and

that I stopped breathing over 110 times in an hour!! I was told that if I

didn't use a CPAP (a device that goes over your nose and blows air during

your sleep) that I would likely stroke out or have long lasting heart

problems. I will admit to not being able to tolerate the CPAP...no matter

how hard I tried. Finally, through research on the Internet, I found another

possible resource in a mouthpiece that moves your jaw forward and allows

oxygen to flow better. My docs were very skeptical so I had another sleep

study using the device. During the whole night, I only stopped breathing 11

times for about 8 seconds each (and I know that's when I re-adjust myself in

the night). Using the mouthpiece, losing 25 pounds (15 to go) has virtually

eliminated my apnea. I'm a new woman!! No naps. No foggy thinking. I urge

you to get checked and get it resolved. It's more than a matter of being

sleepy...it can be a matter of life and death.

I have dealt with sleep problems for many years. For 5 years I was on O2

at night because my levels were low but sleep apnea was ruled out. A few

years ago I went on a mild antidepressant because I hadn't slept well for

5 years and it was really taking a toll on me. I couldn't believe the

difference after the first night although I dealt with bad side effects

for about 8 weeks. Six months ago I decided to attempt to go off of it

and try some more natural things. One simple thing that I was told that

made a tremendous difference is there should not be any electronic

equipment in a bedroom within 5 feet of the bed because of electrical

stimulation. This includes TV's, radio's, computers, and anything else

that has bright LED lights. If this equipment must remain it should be

unplugged before you go to bed. This suggestion sounded so simplistic to

me but I decided to try it. I couldn't believe what a difference it made

in my quality of sleep. I'm a person who relies heavily on nutritional

supplements, some of which also help with sleep, and you can read about

the regimen I follow on my website. Also, I found some great articles on

insomnia on http://www.webmd.com . Hope this helps someone.

Yes, with me it's much more exaustion too - rather than sleepiness. And a

total feeling of muscle weakness - like just raising my arms to unload the

dishwasher feels like lifting weights. I also feel like I can't think

straight (like read an article or something) because it just takes too much

energy.

I will have to watch what I eat more carefully to see if it brings on

symptoms. Do you find that the symptoms come on right away? That would

make it easier to pin down. I just think it's so odd that mine are on this

three-day pattern no matter what I seem to do - although maybe I'll see a

change now that I'm really not eating any sugar or breads.

I haven't been on for a while. I guess I have been in denial.

Anyway, I have intense exhaustion especially around the 1-3PM hours

of the day. Maybe my lunch has too many carbs?

can anyone suggest the order that i eliminate my three main killers in my

diet and life.

sugar

cigarettes

and

caffeine

i know i cant do all three at once without flipping out, so i was wondering

if anyone had any experience with this and what might aid me in my attempt.

i know that i have to quit them all, but mentally i cant do it all at once,

i am not that strong,

thanks

Oh that's tough.

I was lucky enought to already have quit smoking about 3-4 years ago.

I used the patch and Zyban. I wore the strongest patch for about 3

months then sepped down to the next one for about 1 1/2 - 2 months

then a month on the weakest one. It was something like my 4-5th

attempt and I wanted it to stick. With both the patches and the zyban

I was able to make it stick. I thank God everyday for that.

Which one is bothering you the most right now? I would probably

choose the sugar first. Once you get that craving our of your way and

get on a good candida diet, I would think that then you should go for

cigarettes and then caffeine. Be sure to have lots of fresh veggies

around when you quit smoking and don't give in to the carb craving.

Someone else might have a better suggestion or think of something

that I haven't.

Hi Duncan,

OK, so if between the diet, pro- & pre- biotics, Inulin, antifungals, and he

takes Oxygen Elements, we still have too many toxins, right? We started the

colon cleansing about a week ago, and haven't felt any better, but I'm amazed at

the stuff coming out of me. And I went from 1 movement a week to 1-2 per day!

But even if I'm moving stuff out, does it mean that the toxins may not be

getting out? Or is it just too soon? (so hard to be patient!)

Thank you again!!

Somepeople might point to adrenal exhaustion or some such, but the

adrenals can heal. I would point out that toxin load, so common in these

disorders, is probably contributing to exhaustion because it imposes a

pretty severe physical energy drain. Prolonged energy drain is

compensated for by the adrenals, and this could indeed result in adrenals

working too hard.

I believe the secret is to detoxify and avoid toxin sources. Toxins and

lack of oxygen reduce metabolic rate.

Feed the correct bowel bacteria with inulin and thereby reduce the

proliferation of the toxin producers in the bowel.

Do a series of liver flushes to ensure the liver hepatic ducts are not

physically blocked and recirculating toxins rather than eliminating them.

Take antioxidants especially " cold-processed " whey and selenium to give

the liver the support it needs to handle the toxin load.

Eliminate all grain sources, starches, and sugar from the diet. They

result in low pH, low oxygen and a rising toxin load. Eliminate corn,

canola, soy, cottonseed oils too. All the pourable oils are free radical

promoters. If you add any back in, make them only for supplement

purposes. Some olive oil, and cod liver or fish oil would be the ones I'd

recommend.

Take 15 drops 35% hydrogen peroxide in a glass of water every morning on

an empty stomach to increase oxygen levels. Also to increase oxygen

levels, eat a lemon, the whole thing every day, and use more above-ground

vegetables, raw and fresh if you can get them.

Coconut oil will increase metabolic rate.

Good start.

I'm using the Super Colon Cleanse capsules (available at most health food

stores). I take 3 per day. I know some people say Psyllium isn't good, but it's

cost effective for now, so I'm starting with that for a little while. I can't

Hi ne,

Thank you for explaining that. I think I've seen others post about those

types of numbers, but didn't know they were about the thyroid. I will definitely

try to get them from my doctor.

The results of your so-called " normal " thyroid tests , together with

the reference ranges . Most doctors don't know how to interpret

thyroid tests , or do not even run the right tests . What you need

are TSH , free T4 and free T3 . Maybe anti TPO antibodies , anti TSH

receptor antibodies , and anti thyroglobulin antibodies . But at

least the first three tests .

Now it's possible that they REALLY didn't show anything special . But

it's also well possible that they were quite unnormal but the docs

didn't know anything about it .

If you don't have your test results , request them from your doc ,

they are yours , you payed for them !

Bonnie,

Nothing has changed at all. I get maybe three hours of sleep a night, and I

am exhausted. Had medical tests, they say Fibromyalgia, but when I started

the VCO the exhaustion went away for weeks. Now it's back.

I just don't know.

Exhaustion

Hello,

When I started using the VCO I saw a big drop in my exhaustion. This week it

seems to be getting worse again. Does anyone have any ideas on why? Should I

take more, less, a different brand?

I was really feeling a lot better, now I don't know what has changed. I

haven't changed anything I am doing. Maybe it was a coincedence that i wasn't

exhausted?

Oh, Firbromyalgia, that explains it. When did you first become aware that you

had this condition? I'm asking this because this can be caused by a Virus and

you need to (if you have one of several) find out which one it is. Maybe I can

help.
