Guest guest
My mother is on LDN for Crohn's Disease and also has kidney disease causing reduced kidney function of about 50%. She has had no kidney problems associated with the LDN. In fact, the improved health from taking the LDN has apparently relieved some of her kidney load and she is feeling better than ever. When I hear " disease " as in " kidney disease " , I think LDN since improving the immune system should be a help in combating diseases in general. The only warnings for Naltrexone (not LDN) are a possible link to liver problems at high doses nearly 100 times our dose, but remember that Naltrexone was used for drug addicts and alcoholics which can be prone already to liver problems from things like hepatitis and cirrhosis. I am not a doctor, but hope this logic helps, Francie > > I have searched the archives under " kidney disease " and " kidney damage " reading hundreds of posts. There were a couple of testimonials from and Betty about their kidney diseases improving, but about the same number of messages regarding the use of LDN when a person has kidney disease and how it is not recommended. My GFR was 90 last year this time, but dropped to 57, then 54 then 52 and now is at 47. I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease (which is moderate) and I am trying to see if LDN would be safe for me to use with this diagnosis, or if I am supposed to forgo it because the articles say naltrexone is not recommended for people with kidney disease. I am having a hard time understanding why people have improved their kidney function while using it if it is supposed to be bad for the kidneys. Any help, guidance, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! >
Guest guest
Hi , I've been on here over 6 years and can not remember any posts concerning LDN causing kidney problems. I only found 41 and 18 posts on " kidney disease " and " kidney damage " (if you put quotes around the term you only get posts with the exact term " kidney disease " rather than posts that say kidney in one place and disease somewhere else). I did find one reference to potential kidney and liver damage, but on HIGH dose naltrexone, plus one other post from an irregular poster saying she had read somewhere that naltrexone could possibly be a problem for diseased kidneys. One would assume that it was in reference to high dose naltrexone. kellyham2 wrote: > I have searched the archives under " kidney disease " and " kidney damage " reading hundreds of posts.
