There is a source for sublingual B12 which should be well absorbed with no needle. Kolb M.D.

Subject: B12

One other thing I forgot to mention was that I took injections of Vit B12 early on in my illness, after I saw that my blood results were off. It showed up with an elevated MCV (mean cell volume), and even though my doctor did not offer any help with this abnormality, when I asked for a prescription for injectable B12, he did not decline it.

I had my husband, mother, older sons, sister and brother-in-law give me injections whenever I could corner them into giving it! I took it for over a year, about two times a week. ( 1 cc)

I have since run out, and no longer have a doctor to write the prescription for me, so have gotten some in Mexico. However, what I used to take was subcutaneous injections, and the stuff from Mexico is intramuscular injections, with a huge needle that I am not particularly fond of. I sure would like to see this become available over the counter.

Dr. Kolb, do you know of a source for injectable B12, without prescription?

Martha,

Do you have the product name or who distributes this version of B12?

Thanks!

Hi Patty,

You have to order it from LifePlus -- I will mail you all the info to order

at wholesale price. It's name is 'Cat's Claw Forte', product #11002. I

have a PDR of all products, and will send a copy of the information pages on

this product. It contains extract from the Cat's Claw Inner Bark, plus the

organic honey & apple cider vinegar -- that's all!

Do I have your correct mailing address? If you recently received a

newsletter from NSIF, then I have your correct address & will get in today's

mail. LifePlus has really great products which have helped me get off all

Rx drugs other than 3. I was on about 10 - 12 before I discovered these

supplements.

Blessings,

Martha Murdock

Hi Martha,

Do they have a website?

You should have my correct mailing address, as you recently sent me some

books (I still haven't received the video yet with Swanson, though!).

I also did not get one of your newsletters, so I don't know if you have me

on your list or not. Thanks...

Having lots of good bacteria in the intestinal tract is what is needed to

maintain a good balance of B vitamins. Older people do not have this

" factor " because they are usually on multiple pharmaceuticals that are

killing these colonies of beneficial bacteria. Cabbage juice, especially

when left to age for 12 hours or so is very good for restoring the balance.

Please note that any of the B vitamins require certain amounts of each to be properly absorbed. So taking a B complex supplement with B 12 would be smart.

************

WHAT IS IT?

Methylcobalamin is a type of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 comes in several kinds including hydroxy-, cyano-, and adenosyl-, but only the methyl form is used in the central nervous system. Deficiency states are fairly common and vitamin B12 deficiency mimics many other disease states of a neurological or psychological kind, and it causes anemia. Cyanocobalamin (the kind in vitamin supplements) is converted by the liver into methylcobalamin but not in therapeutically significant amounts. Vitamin B12 deficiency is caused by a wide range of factors including low gastric acidity (common in older people,) use of acid blockers such as Prilosecâ„¢ or excessive laxative use, lack of intrinsic factor, poor aborption from the intestines, lack of Calcium, heavy metal toxicity, or excessive Vitamin B12 degradation.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Methylcobalamin donates methyl groups to the myelin sheath that insulates nerve fibers and regenerates damaged neurons. In a B12 deficiency, toxic fatty acids destroy the myelin sheath but high enough doses of B12 can repair it.

For every day prevention take 1 mg daily (sublingual tabs are better absorbed). Specific conditions may require higher doses.

Hi

The B12 group of vitamins include Folic Acid, one of it's protective source is the Liver.

I am on Methotrexate (for Rheumatoid Arthritis) and I take 5Mg very day to protect it from the nasty side effects of this pretty nasty med. My dear wife has Hepatitis C, she also takes it to help protect her liver from the HEPC virus. Women should also take Folic Acid some 12 weeks before getting pregnant and 12 weeks following the pregnancy. However the dose for pregnancy is in the microgram range and NOT in the Mg range. Best talk to your doctor for the correct does.

Kind regards

Jeff

yes B12 is made in the stomach if a certain factor is present; I cannot think of it and will have to send name later; older people are often missing this factor, and must take B12 shots every month; some people can manage on tablets; the body uses a small amt but it is important.
