Subject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN

and hypoT and going downhill....

Hi - I have heard that hypoT people sometimes have to

lower their thyroid meds nce they start LDN.

I am concerned as I appear to be having the opposite experience in that I seem

to be going v slowly downhill, becoming more and more hypothyroid in the last

month or so. I started LDN in November and that is the only thing that I am

doing that is different.

In recent weeks i have been increasing and increasing my thyroid hormone and am

on a very high dose now and getting nowhere fast. I feel like I need to

increase even further...

My pulse and temp is really low and my energy is non-existent and getting worse.

Any hypoT patients out there who can relate to this?

Many thanks.

Mo

Well, I'm better. I have NOT decreased my Armour/NT combo. I take 3 grains per day and NOW on 2mg LDN. Take 2 drops Iosol Iodine daily, especially in the winter. I also take 400 mcg Selenium daily to keep my Hashi antiobodies down. This works for me. Oh I also take adrenal support. joyce

(sorry Joyce, meant to send to list)

I'm HypoT. Are you taking adrenal hormones, such as Isocort? I don't know

a lot about these things but my wonderful functional-med MD says that the

tendency to keep increasing the thyroid hormones is often a sign that

adrenals need replacing. As people on this list remind us, LDN moderates

the immune system, bringing it into balance. It may be that now you're

seeing the " truth " , that your adrenals are exhausted. Something to

consider. --

, I know my old adrenals were, somewhat still are exhausted. Years ago when I started my healing path, one doc put me on Cortef and then another on Hydrocortisone (HC), didn't like either of them for me. My doc recently suggested Isocort and I muscle tested NO for it. So here I am taking extra Pregnenalone, on my doc's suggestion, 30mg instead of the 10mg I had been taking. I also take 25mg DHEA for many years. She said the extra Preg could increase cortisol...so here I am on that. She said some of her patients take up to 100mg Pregnenalone daily. She actually said to take extra Preg till you feel better. I stopped at 30mg...

Now, I also have been taking Standard Process adrenal supports; I like Drenatrophin PMG, and have taken Drenamin by SP. But I switch too and now taking ADRENergize by Enzaymatic Therapy. I like to switch every few months as I believe our body becomes too accustomed to one so I take a diff. one.

Everyone on: realthyroidhelp.com says our adrenals have to be working better for our thyroid to work better.

I've had a lifetime of stress, those who have NOT are very fortunate...so it just stands to reason our adrenals need FOOD too. joyce
