Hi Ellen,

Just a suggestion but did the cookies and the sweetner have aspartame in

them?

If they did then you could be sensitive to this chemical. It causes a lot of

nasty side effects look it up on the internet you will be surprised.

There is also a group on onelist about it.

I have heard from other vegans who attribute their candida overgrowth to

candida, and many have gone on to say that as a result, they have had to

incorporate non-vegan items back into their diet. So, if you are willing to

forego your current lifestyle, I would suggest you start adding in cold water

fish such as salmon. Then, maybe chicken, turkey, and eggs (or just egg

whites as is the case with me, due to the inflammatory nature of egg yolks).

Also, are you supplementing with B's and are you anemic? I am highly anemic

and it doesn't help matters that I rarely eat beef, so I definately have to

supplement with iron and B's. I am trying to eat more fish (at least once

day) and therefore eat less chicken. I can definately tell a difference in

how I feel, in only a matter of hours after eating salmon.

Hi ,

I'm new here too, had candida problems 14 years ago and went on Dr.

Crook's (The yeast connection) low carb diet and got rid of my

chronic yeast infection in a little over a week, after having the

infection for close to a year. Stayed off sugar for 10 years, ate it

in moderate amounts the last 4 years. Got hit with a bladder

infection, took antibiotics and have the yeast infection back +

eczema. Problem is, I'm a vegan now too and don't want to eat the

meat in the low carb high protien diet. But I'm prepared to do it if

I have to in order to get rid of this. I don't know how you can be a

vegan and eat a low carb diet, I'd be interested in hearing ideas on

this.

Post Shredded Wheat has absolutely no sugar, but 40

grams of carbs, so you can eat that in the morning but

that's all the carbs you should have for the day.

Hi ,

Bubbies makes real live lacto-fermented stuff. Yes, cooking it will kill it. I

don't recommend using whey in sauerkrauit making. It is overkill, and as most

have experienced makes for mushy kraut. All for now.

Welcome

1 & 2) Heidi posted a letter recently from Bubbies which stated that

the kraut is heat treated but the pickles (dill) are not. Both taste

delicious IMHO, but you won't get all the bacteria in the kraut. As

Mike pointed out, if you cook the kraut you kill the bacteria, but

still get some of the benifits anyway.

3)My kraut comes out a lot better without whey. Just use salt. You

can add a bit of juice from your last batch of fermented veggies to

speed things up if you want. I've heard of people adding some raw

apple cider vinegar, but I haven't done it myself.

4) Most people get thier kefir grains from someone else who has them.

It's like a big kefir underground network! :)

Put the word out that you are looking and perhaps what part of the

country you are in and you will likely get some cheap. Good places to

try are here and the native_nutrition, discussNT,

kefir_making, or Dom's kefir site

If worse comes to worse you can buy the grains from GEM cultures in

California, they are good.

I don't like storebought kefir myself, it has too much junk in it and

doesn't taste like the real thing to me.

I am not familiar with the bloating except if it is caused by a large

amount of carbon dioxide gas as a byproduct of intestinal yeast

metabolism. Get off of sugar and carbohydrates; I used the Atikins

diet. What blood test? Candida antigen panel? Stool cultures are

notoriously ineffective. Some think the lower bowel excretes a

substance that prevents candida from growing on the usual culture

media. Gram staining and direct microscopic examination are the only

sure diagnostic tools.

Is it possible that the bloating has something to do with eating

microwaved food? I only ask as I have bloating frequently. But

recently stopped microwaving even to heat up water plus heating food

and haven't had any bloating for weeks.

The only other thing I have changed in I am using transdermal

magnesium chloride everyday. I both rub it on various places as well

as use it in a soaking bath. I have been using it for arthritis and

pain and inflammations though. I do use it though on my lymph glands

too; all of the ones behind my knees as well as under my arms and in

my neck. But I didn't think the bloating had anything to do with

inflammations nor lymph glands?

I have heard that microwaving the food changes its molecular structure

basically rendering inedible as food. I suppose this might make it harder

to digest. Not to mention that most microwaveable food is already not

healthy because its mostly likely processed etc., etc., GIna

Sharon, I just noticed someone did get back to you. Hopefully you

can get going some aspect of the diet. I brought it in pieces at a

time. I was very confused too, but whatever I managed helped me to

fell better. I at least don't get daily migraines anymore, and will

continue to figure out the rest of it. Take care.

Hello Shari,

I know this program can be overwhelming to everyone when they first

embark upon it, but is well worth the effort to make your way through

the plan. :-)

Bee is constantly working on updating and improving the infomation in

the files for us all. She is diligent to make available the latest

information available to help us all to understand more how and why

this diet plan really works to help balance our bodies out again so we

will all be healthier, happier people. :-)

A) Candida-How to Get Started

This file was very helpful to me to get an overview of the basics of

the diet plan which helped lessen the confusion. I used this file as my

foundation to build upon.

There is so much information involved in Bee's program, it takes time

to assimilate it so you can process it and apply it to your own

lifestyle. The nice thing about it is you don't have to be in a hurry

to put it all together to make it work. Bee encourages us to take one

step at a time, and ease ourselves into the program as we learn more

about it.

It seemed radical at first to me, but once I grasped the basic idea,

and continued to build upon the plan, little by little as I went along,

everything began to fall neatly into place. Every new thing I added in,

brought greater results.

I have been following Bee's program since March 2006, and I am getter

stronger and healthier daily, which encourages me to continue on for

even greater results as time goes on. I am learning more all the time,

and am still adding new things in.

What really has been a mainstay for me on this marvelously put together

road to health, is the encouragement and support from Bee and others

who are on the same journey on this forum, when I read questions others

have on the forum or I ask questions along the way. We are all willing

to learn and grow together helping each other along the way.

So go ahead, take your first step, we are all here to catch you if you

fall, help you if we can and encourage you on with the plan Bee has

developed, to forge ahead on your jounery to better health. :-D

hi sharon and welcome!

you've already received some perfect answers, and i'm just chiming in

on one more thought.

make sure you are eating enough, it sounds on like those first two

days you ate not much food at all - which would cause die-off

reactions to feel much more severe.

people with candida, and/or many symptoms associated with candida are

usually malnourished, getting a good daily dose of nutrients is

crucial to feeling better. and the best place to get the nutrients is

from the foods recommended in our diet. the recommended supplements

really help too. i felt a lot better once i incorporated even just the

b-complex, cal/mag & cod liver oil into my daily diet.

if you're not hungry, try to at least make the Bee's Egg Drink recipe

(in the Recipes Files) once or twice a day.

add lots of good fat to your foods. plenty of butter and/or coconut

oil (if you can handle it without too much discomfort this early on)o

n your steamed veggies, olive oil in your salads, best quality meats

with their fat whenever possible (eg. free range chicken roasted with

its skin).

prepare some foods in advance if you have to so you can eat at regular

intervals with minimal effort (a pot of stew, or vegetable soup, or a

whole roast chicken, or cook up a few meat/veg kebabs to grab for a

quick snack). have lots of fresh free-range eggs in the house.

remeber for die off you can do things like coffee enema, epsom salt

soaks, take liquid cholorphyll, much more in the files, look up Die Off.

Ebay 2L - $40 incl delivery

I haven't noticed a lot of difference between the two - but you have to

be careful which ones you buy on ebay.

I haven't started the rest yet, but hopefully that helps

Fantastic! Try replacing coffee with the Electrolyte Drink: juice of 1/2 a

lemon, 1/4 teaspoon of a good ocean sea salt ( " Celtic Sea Salt " from your local

health shop is a good choice), topped with 6 to 8oz of water. Metric = 177-237ml

or 3/4 to 1 cup. I drink mine warm to replace the tea I used to drink. Drink

this up to 6 times a day, 3 with meals to aid digestion.

The major steps towards getting rid of candida overgrowth:

1. Eliminate foods that feed candida.

2. Build up the immune system with our unique nutrient-rich diet, including

coconut oil, plus essential supplements and by eliminating foods and toxins that

damage your health.

3. Kill off candida overgrowth with antifungals.

4. Plant good bacteria in the digestive tract with probiotics (good

bacteria).

When you are ready to move to step 2, after removing the foods that feed

Candida, do check out the supplements file for full details of what supplements

Bee recommends (Bee is on holidays at the moment). The file is called " Candida

Supplements List " . It's my understanding that the idea is to get the right

balance of nutrients via supplememts, in conjunction with the foods that we eat.

So you don't really want to be adding in other supplements that aren't

Hi Janelle,

Welcome to this wonderful group! I learn every day from all the

postings; it's so interesting and solution oriented. To me, it's like

taking a course in nutrition, physiology, biology (and more) all in one.

(1) Feeling overwhelmed at first:

I think everybody feels like that at first. I remember feeling like I'd

never get through all the info, that it was just so much.

So, the only way I knew of proceeding was one tiny step at a time.

- The best way to do that, as Jen wrote, is to simply follow the file

titled " Curing Candida, How to Get Started " .

- It's a very condensed, easy to digest version of the program.

(Perhaps printing it and posting it, or keeping it handy could help).

After a few months on this group, I still refer to it to refresh my

memory.

- Having this basic tool to work with, you can then start reading and

re-reading the other files without the pressure of feeling you have to

grasp everything at once (been there...lol). It takes a while to absorb

all the info contained in the files. Each time I re-read them, I learn

more.

- I don't know how the moderators feel about this, but I would cut back

to the supplements listed in the file titled " Candida Supplements List "

and follow the steps outlined in the " How to Get Started " file (the

foods recommended on the diet have detoxing and antifungal properties

on their own).

- This will cost less.

- Doing too much at one time tends to overwhelm the body. As Bee

states, more is not better.

- As Jen wrote, going slowly is best.

Elyse I have been wondering if you are aware of anything in particular

in this diet that you attribute to your freedom from the migraines.

My sister suffers from them so. I have recommended the diet and this

support group but she is too overwhelmend to even think about it.

candida is being killed off = die-off. Ensure you are doing

everything you can to help your body detoxify, particularly coffee

enemas (see the Enema Folder for details). Also you can do

treatments suggested in the Sinus & Nose Treatments Folder. Today

there was a message by Fran to help someone with sinus problems where

she listed treatments I've written in messages. It is important that

the air you breath is moist by boiling water on the stove or using a

good humidifier; you can also run very hot water in the shower

filling the room with steam (do not burn yourself when you turn it

off) and sit in the room 15-20 minutes doing breathing exercises -

see the Breathe Right folder - this will give you the most immediate

relief.

==>58% of protein turns into glucose/carbs in the liver so it doesn't

they get changed, but when you consume good fats I recommend they do

not change in the intestines either. That is why you can be very

healthy only eating proteins and fats.

Hi Bee, thanks for your reply

question,,,, past three days, i've been just sitting or lying down

because whenever I get up, my chest starts to hurt so bad and I get

these rough long cough attack that makes me go back to bed or the

couch and rest and get my breath back.

Is there anything that I could take? like some sorta safe medication

or spray that might help with this so that at least I can get up to

make food or get something to drink?

==>I suggest you see the doctor to determine exactly what is going on.

It doesn't mean you need to get x-rays nor do any treatments

recommended, but you should know what you are dealing with.

==>I cured pneumonia with garlic tea after two bouts of antibiotics

didn't help. You can also add ginger to it; drink 4-5 cups per day.

It's the strongest most effective medicine you can have. Also inhale

fumes from a bottle of oil of oregano several times a day, and ensure

your air is moist.

==>I also believe you should do the 9-day program which is in the

Candida Symptoms Folder. It's best to make your own bone broths to

start the program. Also you'll need enema equipment; the easiest is

the bulb syringe - see the Enema folder.

Let me know how it goes and if you see the doctor what they believe the

problem is.

Hi, I'm probably not the best one to answer your question but I wanted

to comment that I've given up some things in order to fit this diet

into my life (both money and time), but it's worth it! I certainly

don't mean to make light of your situation - I've been through a

financial disaster years ago (I lost my house; it was about as bad as

it gets). I'm better off now, but still on a tight budget - I'm a

single mom working my way through college. But back a few months ago,

I was so sick all the time that I was missing work and school a lot!

Now I am spending more money on my food, but able to work more

(because of feeling better), so it's almost like it pays for itself.

Also this diet takes more time, at least in the early stages I guess.

I find that the shopping, planning, familiarizing myself with

the 'rules' of this diet, and preparing some of the foods - all these

things are taking more time, so I've given up some of my

extracurricular things (which I was missing anyway when I was sick all

the time) to have more time to devote to my health.

I have no regrets. I'd be willing to give up even more if I had to.

Without your health, what else matters? It's the best investment you

can make.

I understand feeling overwhelmed with info, rules, restrictions, etc -

especially when it goes against everything you've been taught. I have

gradually learned this: TRUST BEE! Forget everything you thought you

knew and everything you used to do. Stick to Bee's plan; ignore the

other candida diets. Spend lots of time reading the articles on here,

also some of the success stories (I found a lot of helpful information

there), and do a search of the old posts - I have found some answers

there. Ask questions if you're not sure - the people on this forum

are so helpful!! Let me just say that I resisted a few aspects of this

diet, and it took me a while to wade through all this info and figure

out what's going on - but once I started really following this plan

the way it was intended, that's when I started getting results!
