Guest guest
Try taking some probiotics. Get the capsules that have various types and not just the acidophilus. The more the better. Start out with one or two and increase until you are normal again. That seems to be working for me. I find that I have to continue taking it, but that's okay cause it works. Guest guest
I have been taking Magnesium-Glycinate and Probiotics for years. They helped a lot w/ chronic constipation -- until I raised LDN up to 4.5 mg. I use Senna tablets now to help with that problem. go_greenie
Guest guest
I played with magnesium (800 mg works, Too well), I tried fiber pills I thought would lodge in my throat and kill me, and I tried Senna tea which just doesn't taste great at all. Then I separate from my marital family and had to learn to feed myself. I didn't know what to do back in 2006 so I started having oatmeal for breakfast and I made a salad for my main meal of the day. Over the last few years I stopped the oatmeal and found as long as I have a nice healthy salad meal 5 of 7 days a week, all works well. I also take a 500 Magnesium, usually every 3 days, and it seems to work well too. I think the big key is the salad... it's grown over the last few years, it takes me almost as long to eat as it does to make. Has a lot in it. Guest guest
In response to my constipation, with suggestion from my Lyme Doc, I'm taking 15-20g of vitamin C per day to help clean the " invaders " out of my intestines. > > Try taking some probiotics. Guest guest
I have been constipated all my life-at least all of it that I remember! And I am 49 years old. I have tried ALL different kinds of probiotics and the only one that has caused an improvement that I love to tell others about is Kefir. I used to have to use a glycerin suppository to get a bowel movement going. Now I drink plain Kefir for breakfast everyday and NO MORE CONSTIPATION!!! I say this in all caps because it is sooooooooo great that I can go to the bathroom by myself:) I have been on 4.5 of LDN since July 2008. It probably took 6 to 8 weeks drinking Kefir to see the improvement. Carole
Guest guest
Carole, do you make your kefir? The store bought has a lot of sugar if I'm not mistaken. I'm not in the mood to make mine. I have 2 friends who do thou. I believe I'm much better now taking 900 mg of magnesium per day, 300 3 times per day and psyllium husk powder (source naturals)...I'm so much better and really clean out good now. Drinking more water too. I drink lots anyway. joyce [low dose naltrexone] Re:LDN and Constipation I have been constipated all my life-at least all of it that I remember! And I am 49 years old. Guest guest
A good Vit C taken to bowel tolerance. And/or 1-2 Tablespoons freshly ground flax seed for added bulk. I buy whole organic flax seeds, use a coffee grinder (dedicated to only grains) and grind my own, then freeze a cup at a time to help preserve it. Ground flax seed can be added to breakfast fruit type shakes, cereals, etc. Lots of good benefits to eating ground flax seed, which can be purchased already ground. Guest guest
What is your disease. If the guts get better due to ldn ,then you might want to increase fibers. With constipation it is always good to look at thyroid. Guest guest
I agree there are many benefits to eating ground flax seed, but buying them is not a good choice as after they are ground the rapidly lose those benefits. Also putting in a microwave also destroys their value. Grind what you need and use within 15 minutes.Note that taking too much flax seed will throw your Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio out of balance, it would be good to take some additional Omega 3.bobdec

Guest guest
Pam,I take a multi digestive enzyme. I used to take it every day, but it works so well, I only take it 3-4 days a week now. I also take a probiotic occasionally to maintain healthy bacteria in my digestive tract and prevent yeast infections. It works well to.CarolynFrom: "konapam@..." <konapam@...>low dose naltrexone Sent: Tue, December 7, 2010 11:57:19 PMSubject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN and constipation I have been on 4.5mg and now 3.0mg for several weeks with severe constipation that does not seem to be improving. If you're on a candida control diet and can't have prunes, there's VCO, virgin coconut oil. It's completely natural, all good fat, anti fungal and 2 Tbsps. will definitely have you going in no time. Some benefits of VCO: The Yeast Connection Yeast-Fighting Program http://www.yeastconnection.com/archive/fighting_ask_may05.html and Learn How to Detox with a Coconut Oil Cleanse http://www.naturalnews.com/026529_coconut_oil_detox_candida.html and http://www.naturalnews.com/025199_coconut_oil_candida_health.html I haven't done the cleanse, but it's easy to add coconut oil to your diet. Possibly any oil would be laxative, I don't know, but this one is. There's also magnesium citrate either as a supplement pill or a drink, " Natural Calm " by Natural Vitality. It's an old home remedy as epsom salts. I use 225 mg. magnesium citrate a day, from Swanson vitamins. It promotes regularity and helps spasms. On a candida control diet, I lost a lot of fiber by eliminating whole wheat, oat bran, and fruit. To add fiber, use psyllium husks like Trader Joe's " Secrets of the Psyllium " . It's just the stuff, no sugar, flavor added. 2 rounded teaspoons in 10 ozs. of water followed by another 12 ozs. of water is a good intestinal broom. Doesn't taste good, but it's tolerable. There's no reason to suffer from constipation when there are so many natural ways to prevent it. K.C.
