Guest guest
I've heard that when someone doesn't respond to antibiotics for Lyme it may be due to untreated co-infections. These co-infections can be tricky to diagnose (tests not accurate). My latest CBC showed some atypical red blood cells--could indicate babesia. Most of us have at least one co-infection. Could that be an issue in your case? You might want to discuss with your MD. It seems like no two people respond the same way with these tick-borne infections. I've heard of people who were asymptomatic for years, then suddenly had a host of health problems which turned out to be Lyme related. I went into remission (pre-diagnosis) for 8 months in '07. Thought I was going to be fine. Then gradually symptoms returned and by early '09 I knew I was in serious trouble and had better find out the cause. Finally was tested for Lyme & Co in May of last year. Bingo! It's hard not to be on an emotional roller coaster with the uncertainties we face. Wishing you better days ahead. Kim [ ] Herbs and/or antibiotics I disagree with the contention that long term antibiotic use destroys the immune system. I have been treated with many antibiotics over the past four years, both oral and IV. My immune system was in such a bad state that without the antibiotics, I could have never managed to come back from Lyme and the four co-infections I had. I have had no colds and only one virus in all of this time so as long as your doctor is supplementing your immune system with the proper supplementation, there is a decent chance that you will eventually be fine. I am also using Buhner's protocol along with some other herbs my doctor uses and for me, neither is a panacea. However I have come along way and I could have never come this far without the antibiotics. Just another perspective.
Guest guest
Hi Kate, I think I'm doing somewhat better on new regime of ceftin & biaxin (which penetrates cell walls). Mood is definitely more stable, but now by mid-afternoon I'm so sleepy I have to nap for at least an hour, sometimes more, even though I get a good 8 hrs of sleep most nights. I'm having some concerns about the PICC line, its care & maintenance.Wishing I didn't live alone. I'm divorced and my young adult daughtesr (24 & 22) don't live near me, though we have very good, close relationships. My younger daughter is having a hard time knowing how to respond to my situation and sometimes thinks I'm " obsessing " about my disease. I'm attending a meeting with the local Lyme & Wellness support group this afternoon and may ask of others experience with the IVs & line. One of our newest members, who is very sick, has one right now. I try to contemplate gratitude for something everyday. Sometimes something as simple as the sound of a bird calling in the midst of a silent winter morning. Best wishes, Kim [ ] Herbs and/or antibiotics I disagree with the contention that long term antibiotic use destroys the immune system.
