Doryx is another form of doxycycline. Doxy will indeed pass the

blood-brain-barrier (gets into the brain) if the dose is high enough, above

about 300 mg daily for an average adult. At lower dose like the IDSA ducks use

(e.g. 100 mg daily) it will NOT get into the nervous system.

I have my doubts about effectiveness of doxy, it is bacteriostatic and does not

really kill Bb. Maybe it works better when combined with herbs or something

else. On the other side, side effects are relatively mild (except for

photosensitivity in summer) and because it is anti-inflammatory as well you may

feel better during treatment.

In my country many Lyme patients have bad experience with doxy, symptoms return

quickly after treatment. That is probably partly because of too low dose

(100-200mg) used; in Germany some Lyme docs now recommend 400-600mg doxy daily

even in early Lyme ...
